I drove a 3rd gen manual...the manual in 6th gear was virtually the same RPM as my automatic in 5th gear. Stock

OP... change your profile picture back to your device. It made it easier to find and stood out. Just saying.

Wondering how this will work with the regear that I have to 4.88? Also, does this utilize all six gears ? Thanks for the thoughts. Since my regear I am pretty happy, but can always be better.

I purchased a unit this morning. I think the OP is on the right track. I said early on why doesn't someone create a "hack" with this transmission. Most of what I have read here convinced me to give this a try. However, I am not happy with this unit shifting into 6th gear at 77mph. IMO, that is way too fast and too late to shift into 6th gear. I think Toyota has just screwed us all and I see nothing but a lifetime of working around their programmed shift points with these trucks. Since I do most of my driving in town, it is my hope this unit will take care of the gear hunting and bogging. I have been driving in S mode her lately even after the TSB. @dcz108 have you considered giving the owner the ability to program their own shift points... especially 6th gear? I have a ScanGauge II. I have ordered a splitter and will report results when I get the unit. Again, I figured this was worth trying. I also figure I'll shift into 6th gear once I get at cruising speed of 65-70 mph. Order #1132

Why not just put in in drive when you are on the freeway? I will. I plan on using this device around town and D when I'm on the freeway without stop and go traffic. I do agree with you that Toyota screwed us all.

That's exactly what I do - once up to speed and on a wide open freeway, going into D is fine... This unit is great for the other 80% of the driving I do!

Thank you for freeing me from Toyota's liberal EPA shifting transmission. :oldglory:

I just drove through 200 of mixed terrain in LA. The shift points are great. I drove up a long grade and the truck shifted into 4th and held it until the top with no hand/shifter input from me. Right and turns are great, no more stumbling into 4th then a big downshift to 2nd.

Thanks for the good work dz customs. You should charge a lot more !

Speed limits in Texas range from 70-85 and so the tall 6th works well here on the hwy. so much is dependent on driving style
