What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

It's easier to get away with it if it's an accessory than a mod, IMHO.

 

Hauled a bunch of concrete in it and sat some posts for our bramble trellises.

Could you explain that wiring of the switches a bit more in detail? I can see you've jumpered the power and ground, but why have you jumpered everything else? There's only four wires coming away from a six-switch panel? Forgive me if I'm missing something here, but to me that doesn't make sense...?

 

I want this thing to work... I tried looking for a diy... anyone got a link or know how to fix this?

 

The black and red are your power on / power off. Your main source of power. The blue and yellow control the upper and lower LED lights on the switch. What you don't see is there is going to be one more wire from each switch individually that runs to his relays

 

It seems as though the original powder coating that came with my bed sill protectors couldn't handle the winter here in Canada... looks like I'll be doing a bit of painting over the next weekend!

 

I realized a few years ago, when helping a nieghbour do this exact thing, that there is an easier way! When I redid 5 post for my 6' privacy fencing in my yard, I used something called 'Sika Post Fix' It is the easiest way to put posts in I have ever used. Dig a hole, rip the bag open (its a 2 part bag) pour the 2 parts in the hole, toss the bag in the hole. Done. It turns into this foam that is amazing. No mess, no water, no heavy concrete, or mixing. My posts have not heaved at all in 2 years.

Damn, I wish I would have known. Concrete work is back breaking. Well actually, the giant Poison warning label that foam stuff would have kept me away. These holes are right by the berry and grape plants we will be eating. I'll stick with the $3 bags of the old stuff.

 

Got it. So black and yellow both go to ground. Red is hot from main power, and blue is hot from ignition power to light up the switches. I think I follow now. Thanks!

I don't know the specifics but I know it requires taking it apart and resoldering something that came undone. Maybe if you take it apart it'll be obvious.

Just pull it apart down to the board and look at the 2 - 510 resistors. one or both will be obviously in need of some re-soldering on one end

When you drop the consel could you please snap some pictures of the wiring harness/connectors? I have a mistery clipped harness with 5 wires with no known home
