    Depends on perspective I suppose.
It's only 200 miles, which will take about 5 hours. Highway for most of it. I've read of people doing the trip in a Subaru, so it isn't too rough. Truck on down to Burns, fuel up and head south for a bit. I plan on sleep in my truck too so we don't have to do it all in one day.

So it looks like I've got my dates of visiting Bend all set. I'll be there on June 22nd-24th. I'm looking for a place to stay while there. Any suggestions on hotels, airbnb, or motels, preferably in a spot where it's happening and a little on the cheaper side.

    Much appreciated.

Steens are no joke, have you researched snowpack levels down there? Based on what's still left up in the Cascades it may make access tough for a while yet.

I have done some research for a trip this time of year. From what I gather I will be able to reach the very bottom, and if the weather keeps up (67 in Burns today) it should be passable in a week or 2. Hence my asking now to give people a little time and what not to prepare.

I was there in August '14 and got caught in a freak blizzard. Dumped 6" on us. The dog loved it. The kid, not so much. We weren't really prepared for that in August.

Sorry didn't see this. You work at goodlife right? I'm supposed to pick 20 cases of beer up there tomorrow that are donated for the China Hat clean up. (Did I mention there was free beer?). We can test your cb then if you want?

Too expensive here. People say, "you get what you pay for". I'm cheap, don't want to soak all my funds into a house here.

No problem at all. I got "laid off" on May 2 so I don't even go by there.
