I'm doing the same thing. Towed my 88 project home with my silver taco too.... also rebuilding my engine.... Are you sure we're not related?

 

Haha I tell you what; Willie Nelson is one paranoid band. Saw him in a private concert and that guy wouldn't let anyone up on stage or near him. As soon as he was done playing he got outta there quick lol

 

Haha, maybe he was having an off day. It was a crowd of just lawyers, coulda made him a little uneasy

 

Not a bunch of progress to report, just cleaning & painting parts. Of course I had to clean the head & intake up by hand, but everthing else I have been cycling through the parts washer at work. I am basicaly just killing time untill my head gasket set & new head bolts get here later thiss week. Here are a few pics.

 

I also picked up a bunch of misc. gaskets & stuff. I keep finding more & more things that I need, but I think I'm getting close. Still need to clean up the lower intake, it is pretty damn greasy. At least the pile of clean parts is bigger than the pile of parts that still need to be cleaned.

 

Man.... I want my engine that clean. It's going to look brand spankin new! What kind of part wash are you using?

 

I got about 7-8 hours in on Sunday

It is a high pressure, hot water tank with some powder type detergent. I just set the timer to run for an hour & walk away from it. It really cleans the crap outa everything, basicaly takes it down to bare metal, when you take them out you can just dry them off & prime / paint. I wouldn't take all of this time to clean everything so well if I wasn't at a stand still waiting for parts, I just hope this engine is going to run as good as it going to look. LOL.

 

I bet it will run great. You will be very happy reassembling a nice clean engine versus a dirty mess.

 

Man those pieces look 100% different; look great!

 

I just looked up the tracking number for my head gasket kit & it won't be here untill friday.Looks like I will be cleaning parts for the rest of the week.

Yeah, I've still got plenty of things I can do to keep busy, such as finish cleaning & painting stuff, put a new master cylinder in it & clean the engine compartment.

 

Well there ya go son! Lots of stuff to do, I have a paper and two test to doo. woo hoo!

 

Just ordered the master cylinder, it will be here tomorrow morning, let there be brakes

LOL, At least if I go ahead with the master cylinder, when it is running again, I can actually drive it.

 

Damn it, I already ordered the stock one, I guess I will see if I can get the T-100 MC instead. Is it a direct bolt on?
