Interesting. They weren't even interested in quoting when I bought my Tacoma about a month ago because they said the pricing I was getting from the other dealers they couldn't match. Of course I emailed every dealer in WA State.

I got the quotes from Rodland, Burien and Magic toyota. Sent them the best quote and asked them if they can match or beat it, otherwise, thanks for the time :)

They took in my SR5 long bed with 42xx miles on it for $32k and sold their 4runner SR5 Premium with 3rd row, sunroof, floor/cargo mats, exhaust tip, roof rack cross bar for $38367. Plus, they offer one additional year of VIP services including oil change, alignment, windshield chip repair, a bottle of touch up paint and a few other stuffs I don't remember.

Overall, I am very happy with the deal. Wife loves the 4Runner.

nice looking ride. i can't remember if it was Strong who i was negotiating with at Michael's but i could not close with them. i was $500 away from leaving with a 2011 sport in Timberland Mica - the sickest of all Tacoma colours. anyway, good to hear folks have success at that dealer. i hear they have Ray10s too!

edit: i see @Aussieshed got the western Washington run around too!

I love my 17 Taco but I would certainly like to have a 17 4 runner! It's potentially the last of the jap built full frame 4 runners

I lost less than $1500 for driving the Tacoma for 7 months. Of course, I lost some accessories like nerf bars and clazzio seat covers.

I guess it's more luxury than the Tacoma :)

It is literally the direct twin to the Tacoma and always has been. 1st gen 4runners were literally Toyota pickups with the cab cut and a fiberglass shell plopped on. It's an SUV but never has the 4Runner been the "luxury" line Toyota SUV, aside from the new 5th gen limiteds which still aren't really "luxury". I mean they make a trail version which is now called the TRD Off-road. Runs a body on frame chassis, near same drivetrain as 2nd gens. I don't think you could get more "Tacoma" buyer market w/o making a carbon-copy if you tried.

So if OP had traded for a Jeep, Frontier, Ridgeline or GM Twins would the community be as accepting of his sticking around? Asking for a friend...

For sure. I have a '13 Tacoma OR and the wife drives a '16 4Runner trail premium (traded in a '14 4Runner limited 4x4 for it) and the 4Runner is a much nicer place to sit. The limited even more so with memory seating positions and air cooled leather seats. But not nearly as nice as the big Lexus and Mercedes SUVs, or even the new Toyota landcruiser. Jeep cherokee limiteds are nicer too. But I would just never consider the T4R a luxury vehicle :)
