What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I'm jealous.

I picked up some used UCA's & the outer bearing race is rusted to the UCA cup. A 12 ton press couldnt convince it so its soaking in oil all week to try again Thursday. Will take a 20 ton jack with a cheater bar to the shop this time, and a full bottle of propane as a last resort. At this point paying double for new sounds like a decent idea

 

Yeah it's not too bad. Vw Jettas a real bitch!

 

I use synthetic. That's what it says to put in it.

 

Wash and wax ........ again !

 

There's a concoction of automatic transmission fluid and something else that would take care of that. Someone will chime in with the other secret ingredient.

 

ATF & Acetone 50/50, I'm planning to mix that up after work tonight and give it 48 hours to work on top of the commercial stuff I've been applying since Sunday.

 

Maybe Marvel Mystery Oil ?

 

Picked up a (used) Snugtop highliner

 

Yes it's a pain to take the oil filter out the 2.7L. I too modded a funnel to change the oil filter

Man I feel your pain I lived in Ottawa for 20 years, moved back to the US a few years ago to upstate New York and it's not much better here. As Neil Young sings rust never sleeps!

 

I got a box of random stuff.



So I decided what the heck, I'll stick it on the truck and see what happens



I'm too lazy to dig up an old before image. Just imagine that only about 2.5" shorter.

 

The blinking AC light was first. Then I went through diagnosing other, more minor possibilities first ( thanks to TW!). Once I got my hands on the compressor/clutch, it was pretty obvious the clutch was toast and the compressor was still working. The compressor would spin by hand with just a little resistance (center of clutch hub).

I got the clutch off of Amazon for $139 plus like 7.50 in shipping. Good seller, Too! Packaged and shipped properly. Not OEM though.

 

Switched out my stock muffler for a Thrush Rattler muffler today. Just didn't like it being silent. So far, I like it

 

Picked up some new stuff from my neighbor
He does custom work for jeeps in DFW and is doing prototypes for Tacoma's and I get to test them out. The skid is available just not the bumpers or rock sliders, yet.

Got this skid as not only trail armor, but it also is an anti-theft device for the catalytic converter which is a new hot item people want to steal.


And whats a truck without a sweet new front bumper! Rear on the way soon
