Are your brakes dragging, e-brake set too tight?

    OP here

This morning I got up early to beat traffic through Santa Clara to Sunnyvale (california). It was pretty much clear sailing and I got 18.5 mpg

On the way home, there was a lot of stop and go traffic and I got 14MPG. So maybe things are improving?

Sounds about normal to me. Tons of stop and go and hills. Then about 19 highway.

I went about 14 miles back and forth on the highway just now. It's the stretch on California I280 between Lawrence expressway and Jacklin road for anyone in the know. It's not the most flat highway ever, but still relatively flat.

I got 16.8 MPG going south and then about 16.5 going north. I maintained 75MPH the whole way there.

Then from the Highway to my house, out of frustration, I gunned it all the way home, and I got 15MPG, which was weird...? I think it was because I wasn't in the lower gears for very long due to me flooring it.

AH.... I am going to let it break-in to 1200 miles like some of the other posters have suggested, and see what happens.

I get anywhere from 14-20 mpg local, depending on traffic, lights, distance, and how hard I drive. Shorter trips have me going all the way down into 12 mpg. Probably average around 16-17 pure local driving.

However on the highway I can comfortably manage 20+mpg going around 60-70, and get around 17-18 going 70+. Mileage goes to shit going uphill, regardless of your speed. My Pro has 1700 miles, bone stock with tonneau cover.

Flooring it in this truck and consistently going 75+ will probably cost you ~3-4 mpg from what I've seen. Up to you to decide if that's worth it.

OP, try driving on the highway in 6th at 60-65 and see what you get. On flat ground I can actually stay above 25+mpg doing so but I can never stay there for long before I need to speed up, hit a hill or something else.

Was at a constant of 85 this morning and got 15 mpg. When I go about 70-75 I get about 17 or 18. Depends on my mood and foot.

I have 8000miles and average 14-18mpg in my off road. Worse city mileage than my 2002 4Runner.

Yeah, milage drops significantly after 70mph. I tend o do about 65 (60 mph limit on the highways here and WSP is pretty aggressive).

At 75 mph, i'm consistently getting 19 mpg with mine on the interstate. Highway driving at 55-60 I'm over 20 mpg but haven't had a long enough trip at that speed yet to see what my average is.

I've got a 2016 manual with 32K miles on it and I average around 17/18 mpg in the city and highway. If I'm hypermiling I can achieve closer to 20/21mpg.

I just broke 2k this week and took my truck to Myrtle Beach and back to Augusta, and averaged 20-23MPG on the highway and about 6-20MPG in the city with my TRD OR. Granted I have an automatic.

don't feel bad i average around 14.5 sometimes less. my average drive is 4.5 miles each way to work. 55 mph speed limit so realistically 60-65 with 3 to 4 lights along the way. I have got 17mpg driving like a grandma but normally get 14.5 per tank. these trucks like 45 to 55 back country roads with no stops then they will get closer to whats advertised.

I just stopped stressing about it to get over 20, gas prices around here are 2.03 a gallon i changed all my displays to not how MPG, it only shows speed and miles til empty. Its damn truck and just going to enjoy it. But loving mine 2017 TRDOR MT, had a 17 AUTO and hated it
