Hey guys! Just wanted some input from the group. I have had my new Tacoma for 3 weeks now and love it! I'm looking into wheels and really want the ray 10s! I know theyre really hard to get but I want to be ready to order for the next drop. I cant decide between 16inch or the 17 inch. Any input on which size you chose and why? Also, does anyone have any info on the cost of those wheels? I cant find it anywhere and I have been using the search bar with no luck.

17 inch wheels have more tire choices. Tires for 16 inch wheels are generally cheaper since there's a smaller bead bundle. What tire size are you looking to run? How do you want to use the truck?

16" = cheaper wheels and cheaper tires.

16" = more tire sidewall = more surface area = more traction when airing down offroad.

    16" = lighter weight.

17" = sometimes they look cooler. Sometimes. At the cost of weighing more, costing more, and less sidewall. :notsure:

Any 17s will clear the brake calipers though.

16", all day, more sidewall. It's true, 17 is the new 16, and there are more choices. But you don't need more choices. Because you have a Tacoma. Therefore kbro2's or stt pros in the appropriate "as big as you can fucking fit" size. 17's... get real. What's next? 18's are gonna be the new 17's, and the 17'ers are gonna understand that in a few years were all gonna be looking like this
    IMG_8732.jpg

And THAT is not what our grandparents fought for.

That's not a wheel. That's a condom stretched over a rim. And it's useless on anything unpaved.

I have 17”X8’s and love the on-road handling and comfort balance, but most of my DD is hwy as opposed to off-road.

However, if the shoe was flipped, more tire sidewall of the 16" should yield me more traction and comfort so for me, the 17’s are working out perfectly.

Having said that, I wouldn’t go more than an inch or two +/- past the standard OEM wheel size unless I was very focused on what I wanted or needed them to do.
    Cheers!

We can all agree that 17 is better on road as a daily driver, yes?

15" doesn't clear the calipers for 2nd gen and beyond. Only 1st gens and earlier.
    How do you figure that?

    Dam!
Well DustStorm4x4, that means a future front brake mod from the venerable 1st gen for some more serious kickass FuN off-roading adventures may have to be put in the works. No for hwy use though, but who the heck cares!

But if feasible who'll be the first I wonder

Curious as well. If anything I'd think 16" would ride better because there's more sidewall therefore it absorbs bumps a bit better.

Awesome thanks man! So a $20 difference between them, is the one inch worth it?

When you guys talk about less choices do you mean with just tire options? I will be doing most of my driving on the highway. Might be able to take her off road for a bit on the weekends if I'm lucky!
