I only have about 3/4 of an acre, but it backs up to a river and there's nothing across the river, so it's very secluded there. Technically, my land goes to "a point in the middle of the river" which they didn't like the wording of when researching the title.

Downside is the river is about 30 ft in elevation below the house, so I have about 50 ft of relatively level lawn behind the house, then a hill that is practically a wall, then another 50 ft of level lawn near the river.

 

That looks like it'd be a good trout stream.

 

In my personal experience, fishing from a hammock is more trouble than it's worth. Every time you make a strong cast you tip yourself out onto the ground.
Adirondack chair would be better. Especially because you can set your beer on the arm.

 

My parents had 4 acres, but they had about 300 acres of mostly state owned land behind them. A lot of it was very wet--almost like a swamp, but it was very private.

Everyone tells me that. I haven't seen any fish swimming in it when I've been down there, but haven't actually tried to catch one. It's the north branch of the Hoosic.

 

According to the state, "Species included white sucker, longnose sucker, rainbow trout, eastern brook trout, and brown trout."

 

You haven't tried fishing the perfect trout stream that's right behind your house?! SACRILEGE!!

 

It's been probably 10 years since I've fished. I'd need a rod.

I recently did a survey for a lady who bought a piece of land along a beautiful stream. She didn't know it was about 2 miles downstream of the wastewater treatment plant - good 'ole brown trout stream.

 

How long have you lived there?

But with the regulations these days, that water is probably cleaner than the tap water in most parts of the country.
