When you say this, are you just pretending that Sens don't interfere the whole series? Just curious.

Sens sit back hard and trap. Pens try to combat the trap by chipping the wall, basic stuff. Sens don't even react to the chips or even attempt to retrieve. They pull the classic intentional / 'not-intentional' interference, making it nearly impossible to get the dumped puck. The Kings Cup teams did it too, to an extent. But come-on, some of what goes on is ridiculous. Sens have water-skied, held-up Pens fwds trying to retrieve the puck, like crazy. At some point, you gotta call an interference. Sens don't even attempt to turn around. That is bullshit hockey.

Also, Rowney got boarded from behind, face-first into the glass. And the end of the 3rd had plenty of potential calls on both sides. But it is pretty ballsy to complain about the refs when Sens whole game plan is exactly what NHL rearranged rules for, to try to eliminate. But somehow come playoff time, those rules don't stand up.

 

There's a lot of it on both sides. They let them play in Game 2. Buccigross was posting pics of both teams committing penalties that weren't called all game that were blatantly obvious.

Those were both interference calls IMO. Either way.... Perry's goal was a fluke. That was a 2-0 game. They need more SOG. That's it. This Kesler Johannsen(sp?) is played out and over discussed.

Speaking of Johannsen, he's looks like he grew up in Eastern Kentucky.

 

They were without a doubt, interference calls.

 

These are two of the worst conference match ups the media could of asked for. They are drumming up the Kesler story because there is a bit of something there, it's all they have to run with right now to try and get the fringe fans back into it.

 

...but really, why do we care what the media says. The teams that are actually there playing are what matters to true fans of hockey. They earned their way there, and that is where the intrigue lay. Media stories can be entertaining, but ultimately only the empty heads are dependent upon them.

 

Unfortunately, those empty heads mean sales...and discussion...and coverage...etc.

 

Yeah I'm not saying anything against the team's involved but you know the ratings aren't what they could of been with better markets than Nashville, Anaheim, and Ottawa still in play.

The media have to do everything they can to keep people interested who would otherwise tune out, that's how they get paid. They aren't worried about the type of fan you described, they aren't worried about the regulars on this thread. We watch no matter what. They are worried about the guy who only follows a single team that isn't in this playoff anymore. As those folks drop off and wait for the finals the dollars made on advertising go down and the media doesn't want that.

All true. But at the end of the day, if the games suck and someone doesn't like the teams involved, they aren't watching. Especially with the weather getting nicer. It's hard enough to plan to stay inside to watch hockey every night, when I also want to be out on my motorcycle or something. If I wasn't a hockey die-hard and my team was out, I'd be gone.

If they are worried about ratings/interest, they should revisit talks about the ridiculous playoff format. A lot of good/exciting teams knocked off early really takes it's toll later in the playoffs. I don't know how the league can deny that (but they do).

 

If they called obstruction in the playoffs problems solved.

 

Ya that too, you are right. On the previous page, I touched on that. So ridiculous, I hate it.
