My battery is toast. Truck was purchased new in June of 15, has around 45k on the clock.
Any chance of dealer replacing or does the battery fall under the 36k mileage warranty?

Probably not, but I would ask... The best you could hope for is a pro-rated credit towards a new battery.

Just some dumb regular crap everyone else has
I have a '14 Sport, less than 13K miles and my battery died about 2 months ago. Called Toyota and they said to bring it in to them and they will replace the battery and charge a pro-rated fee. I think that the batteries themselves have a 24 month free replacement, then after that they do some simple math crap and come up with a figure. My problem was that my battery was so dead that I couldn't charge it nor could I jump start it. I didn't want them to tow it either, which was their suggestion. Anyways, I bought a new battery from Autozone for $80 (on sale) and it's been just fine. FYI, my 2006 Taco that I had for 8 years was still on its original battery when I sold it. Go figure...

If you can get a dealer to provide a new battery, it will be their brand, known as TruStart. These batteries are junk.

Why? The guys that make Trustart ( Johnson Controls) also make DieHard, Duralast, etc. From what I hear they are solid batteries at competitive prices.

Lol, you have 45k miles and you're asking if the battery is covered under the 36k mile warranty?

Johnson Controls makes all sort of batteries under contract. The more they are paid - the better the battery. Toyota has had all sorts of problems with their TruStart batteries. I went thru 4 of them on another Toyota and the issue was not parasitic drain. If you search the web hard enough, you'll find all sorts of negative opinions of these batteries, some from dealer techs who install/replace them.

If you've had good luck with a dealer TruStart, you are lucky.

Factory warranty is 3-36, trustart batteries have 2 year free replacement, prorated after that for an additional 5 years.

disagree. my factory battery went 9+ years and was only replaced after it sat at the dealer lot for 9 months waiting on a frame.

Not talking about the factory battery - the one new vehicles come with. Those are good. I'm talking about the replacement battery sold by Toyota dealers.

Some people believe that the dealer replacement batteries - TruStart - are the same as what came in the truck when it rolled off the assembly line . They are not.

    Call the dealer and ask.

As for these batteries being junk, ehh not so sure. Mine has 4 years and almost 60K on it (and I have running boards hooked to mine) , no issues. Battery life is influenced by many factors. Some types of driving and climates make batteries die faster.

Walmart has a 750 CCA 5 year (3/2) 24F battery for just under $100. It's what my '09 had in it when I bought it in October of 2016--it died last March, 5 years @ 10 months old--I bought another to replace it. Batteries take a beating from the heat down here...

I see you have a 2013 - 4 year old battery. 2013 + 4 = 2017. Are you talking about a "factory original"? If so, we are not talking about the same thing.

Took the truck to the dealer this morning.
Said because of the miles they couldn't warranty it.
Battery replaced with a 27F (non-dealer) with a 3 year no cost replacement and prorated after that to 5 years.

    2012 Rav4 - dead battery after 2 years 25k
2014 Tacoma Sport - dead battery after 2 years 25k

Never thought about the warrantee, not that I would have able to do much as the dealer is 25+ miles away.
Others on this forum have complained about the crap OEM batteries Toyota is using.
