I've taken my truck in before too and got the "it's normal" response. They further indicated that the FRS had it too, as if saying that made it more normal and OK. The chirping on my truck was loud, like something was wrong. I changed fuel to non-ethanol and the chirping disappeared.

Mine makes the same noise but it depends on which gas station I fill up at. There is a Chevron near my house which I use mostly because the chirping stops when I fill up there.

BTW I was walking my dogs the other day and a brand new Lexus RX pulled up to the stop sign. It was making the exact same loud chirping noise.

My '16 developed the chirp a few months into ownership. At first i thought it was a squeaky belt. The chirp happened only after the truck was thoroughly warmed up and could be embarrassingly loud.
After reading up on this issue on TW i tried Lucas upper cylinder additive as recommended and the chirp went away. I have also found that if i use non-ethanol gas there is no chirp.
I now carry a bottle of Lucas additive in case i can't find ethanol-free gas when i need to fill up.

I took the truck in for the trans TSB and told them about the chirp knowing they couldn't do anything but I just wanted it on record. They came back and said the ticking was normal and it was the fuel injection system performing the self cleaning test. I told them I wasn't talking about the ticking sound, it's a chirping sound that is coming from the HPFP. They said they couldn't hear it and gave me Tech Tip T-T-0364-15 "ticking sound from engine at idle" and in the description part they wrote in the word chirping next to ticking and said there is no repair necessary to remedy the condition. I couldn't help but chuckle cause I knew it would be a fruitless discussion

absolutely true! I found a station that has ethanol free gas about 7 miles from me and the squeek has indeed gone away plus I got about a 1.5 mpg gain as an added bonus.

Has anybody else's disappeared? Mine used to be so loud but it's been completely gone for a while now. I've used Chevron 87 grade the entire time.

I think the closest Ethanol Free Station is about 100 Miles away, l wish they at least gave you the option to choose.

I filed a complaint with Toyota yesterday and have a reference number. Last night, my brother was moving my truck .. and the chirp really is loud and embarrassing. Its insane to know that a 40K MSRP vehicle produces this dump and annoying noise. It sounds like a bad bearing if you didnt know better. Again, I brought it into my local dealership and they confirmed its the HPFP , and said that is a normal sound .

I'd like to play the squeaking and howling sounds while vibrating Mike Sweers vehicle every day that he commutes to work. He probably drives a BMW or some shit anyway.

Going over 20k miles on mine, I've never heard it, but I'm using/sticking with the same top tier fuel brand & 5k oil changes 0-w20 same brand and keeping my fingers crossed.

But should I develop the noise, and at $1400 a pop for a new pump, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need some moral support from my TW bruhs to get over it

Houston we have a problem the Fuel pump is located on the top of the Fuel tank at the rear of the truck, if you hear a fuel pump noise it would have to be coming from the rear gas tank area of the truck not under the hood in the engine bay area. FYI

Wrong. We have two fuel pumps. The high pressure fuel pump is on the engine.

I'm not sure why you think you're right.

We have direct injection, with a high pressure fuel pump, just like every other direct injection vehicle, mechanically driven at the engine.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-TOYOTA...UMP-23101-0P020-231010P020-VN70-/132097714947

They aren't particularly complicated, but they do have mechanically moving parts, notably a spring/piston assembly. Ethanol fuel is not as well lubricating which is the root of the noise.

    I think hes trolling.

I've posted a video on a previous post , as well as evidence that the Toyota dealership has confirmed its the High Pressure Fuel Pump.
