    What would it need from the aftermarket? Seems to have everything and more that a pro has? Just wondering what else you'd want to put on the zr2?

    What gets me by is having the ability to make the truck my own. Not driving around in a truck that looks like everybody else's. Plus owning a 98 ZR2 blazer put a bad taste in my mouth. And no I don't care that this truck has has zero similarities with that blazer but the ZR2.

    One of my fav vehicles ever is the chevy/gmc cyclone/typhoon. GM can certainly make some bad ass vehicles and the Zr2 may just be one of them. Saw this one last week peddling to work

    Fair enough, but in my small town having a zr2 or trd pro, heck even my 4Runner trail is unique enough.
    My 4Runner trail was one of 3 in inventory in the 4 Atlantic provinces when I bought it last May.
    I still think the zr2 will have things to make it your own in the aftermarket, even the Colorado has that now. Not to the level of the Tacoma, but to each their own I guess.

    A) Um, I ain't a Toyota Fan Boy . . . my Gen One is my first Tacoma, first Toyota I've owned. I came from Chevy, GMC, and have tried a couple of Fords.
    B) This ZR2 just came out. That entire exhaust system should NOT be completely rusted already. Period!
    C) Frame rail rust already? They took a new ZR2 and ran the Rubicon trail.

    If you listen to the engineer he states he was the first one to say body mounted rock sliders wouldn't work, but the engineers proved him wrong and they can support the entire weight of the truck. Videos to prove it in YouTube.

    I'm sure they can if you gently raise the truck with them lol....as for it actually working as a slider....NO

    They survived the rubicon trail, and various YouTube videos show them banging pretty hard in them.
    I'd say they are designed for accidental hits, but I'm sure if you smashed on them hard all the time they would show signs of weakening over time. Then again if you're constantly hitting them maybe you need a lift, bigger tires, or pick a new line where you're driving.

    Either way from what I've seen they offer more protection than the competition lol

    I don't know, seems like the sliders do the job.

    Having said that, the engineer TFLtruck is talking with said that he told the ZR2 team that body-mounted rock sliders are "stupid," and so he personally took it out and banged it around some rocks and he was pretty happy with them. See the video below @ 6:28.

    The sliders are going to have some give so it's not going to be a direct impact on the cab bolts (which also have rubber bushings on them to absorb some shock). And if your beating on it hard enough on a regular basis to shear some cab bolts, you have bigger things to worry about!

    Those bushings are designed with the cab weight down on them. Land on them sliders right just once after your nice and comfortable with them "glorified step bars".

    That's interesting. That would be something cool to see on a separate video for chevy to do to show the sliders effectiveness. Or just a video of that one companies frame mounted and body integrated sliders (rocky road I think?). It's a cool concept to have the tightest fitting armor possible.
