As I stated it is not correctly done as per any type of accepted quality concerns in my opinion. If one of my techs did that they would be reworking it.

Did you look at the image of another 2008 that I posted. That is what it should look like. Hopefully the OP will not have any other issues with this.

I am not saying it is correct, or right in any sort of fashion, but that's how some of them come right out of the factory. Mine included. As long as it is crimped into it's spade terminal correctly, routed right, and doing it's job then he should leave it be. If he wants to check it if he has a multimeter he can, but he is looking in the wrong area. The crank sensor is not going to cause the vehicle to not crank at all. Now if it was cranking but not starting then yes all of the wiring would have to be checked there, but he is chasing ghosts that do not exist there.

You know I have heard of cases where the EFI fuse glitches for some reason. If nothing is going on for you right now after doing that then let it be for now especially since it is running correctly now.

I think there must be some confusion in the terms used Cranking and Starting...

I interpreted " not cranking " as the starter turned the engine, but the engine did not start up and run.

It appears that you interpreted " Not Cranking " as the starter didn't turn.

    I could be wrong....

I'm an electrician and have seen more than one blown fuse that doesn't look it.

The main thing that i cant figure out is after it stalled the first couple of times i would turn the key and there would be no crank and the gauges wouldn't move. I cant remember if i even had a beeping from inserting the key. The days following it would stall start right back up. Its been running without a stall for a couple days now.

Have you looked at the ignition switch itself?

Since there is so much misinformation without an overall summary of issues and things checked in which order in this thread, it's really hard to say which one of us is misinterpreting it. Haha.

Slowly roll the ign key forward , shaking it as you go through the different positions. Pay attention to the dash lights as you get to run and crank. If the switch is bad or going bad you may see the lights flicker away and come back while shaking the key. Or just going slowly through the positions you might see the power drop out. This is common and it may explain the combination of sometimes it cranks and sometimes not even cranks..

Think about it that key, cylinder and switch get a lot of repeated use..

Define this for me " there would be no crank ".

1.) The engine wouldn't start but the starter was turning the engine.

2.) The starter never turned the engine.

Didn't read the whole thread - not enough time. I suspect this was brought up along the way.

Crankshaft Position Sensor - known in some circles as the CPS.

Does the scanner tell you how much fuel is left in the tank from a sensor? The reason i ask is bc it just started beeping that i have 0.1 gal left but my gauge says i have 1/4 tank.

When i put the key in the hole slot and twisted it clockwise from 12 to 3 the truck would not give a chinny chinny bang bang. It would just give a ...................... hope that helps a no crank situation.

You're right. Its been a long day detailing 2 RV,s and a car bc all my client's are pushed back from this past week of the taco having problems. To answer jimmys question in a more appropriate manner the starter doesnt turn the engine. Also sometimes the gauges dont move when i turn the key to ACC. Ive already stated this earlier. Im not a mechanic or electrician, i detail for a living. Im just trying to find somone with a similar issue before i spend thousands at toyota to fix this.

OK, The starter doesn't turn the engine.

Do you hear the relay pull in or the solenoid click for the starter?

If you hear nothing you could have an issue with the start neutral safety switch. Maybe try starting in neutral or wiggle the gearshifter.
