Wall mounted split system with AC and heat. Add a mini fridge, hot plate and hammock and you'd never have to go back in the house...

Well since I live alone other than the dog I can pretty much do what ever I wish:}. Think one half acre plus house and single attached and two car oversize detached man cave lol. If I was to do a mini split it would be in the detached the attached is pretty well insulated need to do the garage door. For the time I am in here I do not think the cost of a mini split install would be beneficial better off in the big one.

You laugh.. If I had my druthers I would have a two story garage with the basics 2 baths, 2 Bedrooms country kitchen , living room and deck off living room and done. It would be sitting in the middle of 10 wooded acres. The garage would be large enough to park my RV and Truck in one stall with a door at either end . Other then that the rest of the lower story is shop heated floors and ac vent system add a nice nice sound system and well appointed with equipment for metal work, wood work, automotive with lift, general work, small dog house off to one side for a paint room . Yep have it designed in my head for the day the lottery folks tell me I won .. Course that does mean I have to play it lol.

I may or may not have written " For Services Not Rendered" on a memo line of a check or three :} Ok ok I did right in front of a waiting room full of patients for the dentist . I was late 7 minutes for the appointments for me and my 2 daughters do to construction I was unaware of because the dentist is 30 miles away in another county I do not go to unless forced to. I got there apologized they tell me sorry we had to move on the list I am like ok I will pay my penance and wait .. Nope sorry we are full for the rest of the day we have some emergency walk ins. Fine reschedule me .. Ok but you have to pay the 30 dollar missed appointment fee (10 per at the time 15 yrs ago) . I said ahh no I was late it is your issue you allowed walk ins not mine I would be happy to wait for a bit as I had expected to wait anyhow. Nope we will not be able to fit you in today and we can't make a new appointment till you pay the missed appointment fee. ( At the time it was the only dentist that took our crappy state dental) I said fine pulled out the check book wrote the check in Capital letter FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED the office manager looked at and looked at me . I told her in almost a DI voice You either accept that or you do not get paid you can sue me if you like. Turned and walked out. I did find another dentist further away who would take it and moved to him.. I have to say the look on her face was priceless when she read it lol

Why don't you look at finding a piece of property to get a start on either where you are or Maine then once you retire build your dream on it sell your house and done

My house was built in the 70's and like most homes in the North didn't have AC back then so they retrofitted an air handler in the attic, pump outside. When buying it I told the home inspector that the AC unit was half the size it should be and he laughed and said your not in the South anymore. They install them at lower capacity here to basically function as a dehumidifier, if they went the size of Southern States it would cycle too often and not remove moisture from the air.

Split level home and my reloading room is below grade with a small window at the top above ground. First year here went to Home Depot and picked up a small window unit for less than $100 removed the glass window built a frame and installed the AC. Still kicking 15 years later and that is one of the more pleasant rooms in the summer you can see your breath sometimes.

    Keeps my powder dry :p

Here's one of my more memorable episodes for you guys: 30 years ago, I went to the local branch of Naugatuck Savings Bank on a Saturday and asked them to count my change and deposit in my account. I had around $75.00 in loose change. The nice teller behind the counter tells me that there is a $10.00 charge and they can't take change on Saturdays. They'd be happy to do so on Monday and for me to leave it there. So I proceed to tell her in a very loud voice "I want all of my money! Cash! I brought it in as cash, I want to take it out as cash! No lousy checks!" I had about $8,000 at the time thanks to a successful lawsuit after being hit from behind by the local town drunk. I closed my account and they went around to each teller to get enough money. Not sure how much was left in the bank as I had some $5.00 bills...

And that is the most important thing lol , I am a colder weather person so the house stays at 70 to 72 :} I hate this friggin heat pump that is here and it is about 18 years old so it has served it's purpose probably next spring it is gone and a real system with gas forced hot air and ac will go in . The only draw back for this house when I bought it is it is ALL ELECTRIC which I despise so when the heat pump goes and they have to run the gas pipe everything else will get gas piped stove , hot water still debating a gas dryer . I have fun with people my electric bill is higher in the summer then the winter the house sits at 68 deg . I can tell you if you get much colder shaving cream does not come out of a can with out warming it up and the wood in the house does not like it.
