I can't decide if I am going to put the new BFG KO2s or the Mud Terrains on my 2017 V6 4X4. I had the previous gen KOs on my old Tundra and loved them.

What is the tougher tire? Figure most of my off roading will be So.Cal deserts and Mountians.

    Thx

    Check out the build
Not sure bro, but they are coming out with KM3's, so would wait to compare those to the KO2's.

As far as literal toughness goes I imagine they pretty much the same. I doubt they use different rubber compound for them but maybe. Assuming you get either in the same load.

I personally recommend the KO2s in C load 265/70/17. Is what I have now and they nice. Benefit is zero MPG hit and still smooth and quiet on road. Almost no difference from the stock tires. You'll be able to hear the KM2s on the interstate. I also think the KO2s look better in the smaller truck sizes 265,285,295 etc than the KM2s. However once you get into 35s and 37s that Jeeps roll around on the KM2s look way better.

I'm looking at getting new tires soon and the BFG KM3 in a 255/85/16 is what I'm hoping to buy in the next few months... if they'll ever release them!

I saw a set at an offroad expo in Sandy Utah about a month ago.

Duratrac. Better in snow and mud.

I would buy Duratracs in a heartbeat! They just don't come in the size I want... I'd get 285s but I don't want to have to buy new wheels with a wider offset to keep them from rubbing...

You'll want the KO2 for that. The MTs won't really help you with anything in So.Cal. and the KO2 will have less road noise and likely slightly better mileage than a KM2.

As others have already pointed out there are other options beyond BFG, but if you are talking KO2 vs KM2/3 then I'd say for your use in that region go with KO2.

If you're a Costco member they've got the $50 off a set of 4 BFG's ATM, but it ends pretty soon. Not sure if it's offered elsewhere.
