My tie rod boot came off from just driving to the grocery store and back in town. They claim that is the clamp I gave them :notsure:

Here is the series of events.
-Had them replace my steering rack.
    -Went to Moab.
-After a few days Jared and I look in my engine bay and he notices that there are uncut zip ties holding my tie rod boots on.
-I take it back to them with the OEM clamps that they gave back to me when they replaced the rack.
-I come back, take the truck home trusting they fixed it. I look under and find that clamp in the picture.
-I walk in and talk to them about it, they claim that those are the clamps I brought them and they had to modify to fit. Yet didn't call me at all to double check.
-They order OEM clamps because apparently those are the ones I brought them
-I bring the truck back a third time and they finally fixed it with OEM clamps.

    So...
Brian and I have had some PM convo, and it seems he has some pretty legit issues. Others in our group may as well.
@muleotfitters- Jon, might be a good time to contact these guys and address their issues.

Strangely, most of the issues are pertaining to clamps? Mine as well.
    How odd....

    :p

Hope you guys can laugh a little, not trying to make (too) light of the situation, especially since it involves paying for something and receiving less-than-expected quality. It does sound like a training/education issue though if multiple members have the same/similar issue.

AND ON THE NEXT FULL MOON THE TRAILS (lol... streets, let's be real) WILL GLOW CRIMSON WITH THE BLOOD (atf) OF A MILLION (okay maybe a couple) STEERING RACKS THAT DIDN'T HAVE OEM CLAMPS ON THEM, ALLOWING SOME SORT OF SILT TO GET ON THE SHAFTS, WHICH OVER THE COURSE OF THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF MILES WORE DOWN THE SEALS ON THE RACK.

Full disclosure: I've always used zip ties for that application. They're a lot easier to cut and replace than those OEM clamps when you want to inspect your rack. Especially on the trail.

I like the way this part sounds. Might to have to start making it to trail rides if it involves rack inspections.....

to add to the drama though...

All these problems would be solved if there was a little more #builtnotbought going on in this thread :jerkoff: :flipoff: :stirs the pot:

@can0nfan2379 it probably is. @cosmicfires took his stock truck up there a couple years back and was fine. That said, it changes every year depending on the snowmelt. I thought it was worse last year than the previous.

I see you have a locker. You'll be fine. I think cosmics truck was a base model.. the stockest of the stock.

If I'm not working on the weekend when that goes down, I'll try and make it, otherwise I'm heading down to Phoenix at the end of June. Everyone is welcome to hit me up and come hang out in AZ if you're so inclined.

It's possible. Make sure you temporarily move you trailer plug (mine was destroyed). I crushed the tip of my exhaust (now cut short), and I put a nice dent in my cross member (coming down the trail in the dark didn't help.

Is the snow gone to lake Gallagher by then? That's a cool area. Been years since I was up there.
