Bed Racks and RTT Recommendations

I'm obsessed with apostrophes. It's a childhood thing. I'd rather not talk about it.

 

Anyone tried using the Toyota factory polymer crossbars to support an RTT?

 

The ones on the roof? No way. I would not recommend this.

 

That's probably not wise, RTT can weight up to ~200 (depending on the model) and those factory crossbars are only rated for ~100 lbs I think.

 

Anyone using a rear swing out bumper with the midlevel kbvoodoo rack? I'm wondering if the Mt Rainier tent (extends about 8-10 past the bed) will clear the rear tire.

 

I made some brackets for the Maxtrax off my KBVoodoo rack.

 

And we expanded on @mrnoodley 's design, so we will have mounting brackets as an option soon.

 

Hopefully real soon so I dont have to figure out my own mount. I need a dedicated place for them, sitting them in the bed wastes up too much room!

I just purchased a set of Yakima track rails setup for $540; I should get it this weekend. I hope it fits with the Bakflip X2. Thinking I can just superglue the rails onto the X2 rails which are also metal.

 

I really like how the bed rack is low and keeps your RTT almost flush with the roof. I was going to go with the KBVoodoo hi-rise cross bars with my tonneau cover, I wonder if that sits just as low..

 

Our tonneau bars are 6" above the side rail caps.

 

I made a set myself and it is solid!

 

What's the mount look like for tred's? I have a similar setup and been looking to mount the same. Thanks!

Hey Chad, still waiting for the $$ to order the rack. Just noticed your post last week for the new premium rack? Any advantage of the new rack vs the one you have right now besides being adjustable? right now i still only plan to mount my rtt and possible the outboard bike mount in the future. Just wondering if i should wait for this new premium rack. Any estimate on price?

 

Had a custom rack built to keep the bed open and usable fir dirt bikes when the rtt is off. It's almost complete, have a pair of removable cross bars to finish along wit flip up side mounts
