Got bored while Beth was watching that movie "Split" so I did a thing :) took off the track below the rear window (never had a use for that track anyways) cut it in half and mounted them to each side of the bed. Now I just need to go get some eye bolts tomorrow. And drill one more hole at the other end to secure that end down also. Did it so I could tie/ratchet things down to the bed.

Met a guy this eve with a badass Tacoma. Front and rear bumpers, winch, etc. Nice rig and a good chat. Wasn't sure how to end the conversation though. Almost asked for his phone number. That woulda been awkward lol. Pointed him to the forum instead. Hope Ryan from Pleasanton signs up!

Had a similar situation when 2 guys were checking out the camper in the concord REI parking lot. Started talking about wheeling, camping, overland stuff... got to the same ending point in the conversation and one of the guys said, "You on instagram?" So much less awkward.
    They were the @thinblueoverland guys.

A guy on the overland bound forums brought up a good idea for my project I did. To put some metal plates underneath the bed to help disperse the pressure since it's a composite bed. I will have to get a hold of some scrap metal and do it. He also said I needed better hardware but already working on that. I just used the hardware I had at the time. Hitting home depot tomorrow for some better bolts and maybe some metal plates

    ...too much shit to list.
Maybe semi special tool? Just need something that can spread the C-clip. Two screwdrivers works almost as well...but with far more profanity.

Do the bedsides have metal plates?

    Doubt it.

I'd not worry about it. If you're ratcheting on them that hard, you'll break something else before you damage the bed.

Floor of the bed is where the abuse goes, if it isn't thicker than the bed sides are, it's every bit as strong.
