The paperwork process exists for warranty work. The recall doesn't yet. Basically same fix, but Toyota needs to create the paperwork and " process procedures" for their accounting purposes. Also They are creating the recall parts inventory and most likely deciding how to hide in in the annual earnings reports.

Took my 17' in for a 15k service and was told it would be held for the recall. I had read about it few weeks earlier and crawled under the truck and didn't see any issues. My dealer provided me with a 16' TRD Sport to drive.

A week later I'm still without my truck. Called the dealer to follow up and they had nothing for me. Called Toyota Corp and got the exact same answer. No ETA on part availability.

Rental side at my dealer was given two codes to book cars for this recall. Both extended terms. They don't expect a quick fix.

I'm under the impression that if the vehicle is kept more than 30days and is unrepairable it falls under lemon law given age/miles.

Been keeping an eye on mine and the weeping hasn't changed but I never noticed the small little "wet" specks/dots until now. Seen some pics of others having it here and there too just not sure if it's the diff that's doing this because I looked everywhere else and can't find any leaks. Plus the specks/dots are in places where I can't imagine it spitting that far without leaving larger signs of leakage. Any thoughts??

Yes 30 days. I've been told by my Dealer a fix is not expected until 2nd 3rd week of June. My truck was surrendered May 9th, I'm counting down the days... http://articles.latimes.com/2012/sep/30/business/la-fi-five-lemon-20120930

Part of the reason for the delay is that Toyota is looking at how many trucks are affected to determine how many parts to make and see if the recall needs to be expanded. There is a statement in the letter to the dealers to "hold the trucks and report to Toyota " so they can determine how many parts they need. The fix was stated on day one of the recall. They know what to do and have already fixed non-recall vehicles. The delay is mostly for accounting purposes.

So let me get this straight- I need my 15K service and my truck is on the recall list, from what I can tell. So if I take my truck in the dealer will keep it until the recall parts are available?

Yup, that's what happened to me. Took my truck in for 20k service and they said mine was part of the recall list. They've had my truck since 5/3/17... Just read about the article on the lemon law, seems like it would be a bitch to actually go through with it though on the consumers end

It is YOUR truck they can't legally keep your truck for any reason, you just need to sign the paperwork acknowledging you understand the problem. This crap of people thinking they have to give them their truck is getting out of control. They have no legal right to your vehicle. You tell them no, get the keys and leave.

I agree but would not sign a dam thing. After reading through this thread its pretty clear that Toyota has proven once again that it does not put its customers first. This problem is simple to fix, fix it and deal with the corporate BS later. They do everything but fix the problem, its pathetic.

Dropped my TRD OR for it's 10K service this morning. Mentioned the clunk coming to a stop just to have it on record. They said it was from my rear diff leaking and a bolt being loose!

I asked if they would follow the recall procedures even though it was not on the recall. They are contacting corporate to see if they will allow it. I told them I did not want to be headed down the highway with my family in the truck knowing the diff could blow. Will let y'all know how it turns out.

I've had "clunk" from day one. Hopefully after the recall fix my clunk will be gone...

Apparently they don't fix it like the recall states if yours isn't under the recall, even if it's leaking.

And I think this thread is still going on so people can be informed on what others are experiencing. That's really the point of a forum isn't it?

Look at your U-joint.See if you have a line of grease on your under carriage. Most likely spitting out grease from them and depositing in back

I think it should be a sticky and the others locked. It's quite useful to hear how other dealers are handling this recall.

I'm paying close attention to when people started posting that the recall remedy was completed on leaking taco to gauge time frame for mine. Def value here for people going through recall on diff
