Two recalls done by the dealer (1) Floor Mat (2) Spiral cable replacement
Hello everyone. I am so grateful that I found this site and learned so many tips from members who own Tacomas. Good job fellow owners. I just signed in today to share my frustrating experience with Toyota dealers in my area. A week ago, I brought in my 2009 Tacoma to a Toyota dealer to have them looked at my headlight lens cracking and burning. Instead, they convinced me to get the spiral cable recall done. Since then, my truck has been running rough and lacks power. I wish I went with my gut feeling not to get this recall done. Does anyone have this same issue after this recall was done on their Tacomas?

Unless they messed with something else, or didn't reconnect something, the clock spring (spiral cable) should have nothing to do with drivability.
    Check engine lamp ON?
    Tried to pull codes yet?

Hopefully, dealer disconnected the battery to do the spiral cable replace. Computer needs to relearn after battery is re-connected. Give it a few miles and it may resolve itself.

Thanks Jeffs68. That's what I thought too. Check engine light is off. Scanned it and looks like everything is ok. Even pulled new cal ID per label they attached. I am vry hesitant to take it back to this dealership because they might just make it worse than it is now.

Thanks bassinman. I am hoping the same thing. I noticed that the battery connectors were never touched, the red stuff are still in the post and dusty.

There is nothing wrong with taking it to another dealership. Tell them your issue and see if they can offer any comfort. It's hard to find a good dealership but once you do  Parts and recall/warranty service only for me.

Most of my parts are OE and come from internet Toyota OE dealerships. Since both of my Toyotas are well out of warranty, the only time they are at the dealership is for recalls. Our dealership's repairs generally range from satisfactory to very good. But I do not otherwise use them because of their high repair costs. $100.00 to pull an OBD-II code is way overboard, but their greed did me 2 big favors: Rip me off once-shame on you. Rip me off twice-shame on ME. Also, it 'forced' me to by an Innova diagnostic tool and learn how to use it. But to your problem: I think you've been given good advice: your car's computer will likely relearn the settings after the electrical system disconnect. You can always take it back in a week or so if your problem continues.

Would agree that its related to losing power, usually they will clear themselves up pretty quick.

Nothing different then if you would of disconnected the battery for a new one.

Worst case scenario you will need to clean your throttle body out with a can of carb clean.

Thanks for all the tips and all the advice. I did pull out the ECU fuse and reinstalled it. The driveability seems to have improved. I'll give it another week then I will take it back to another dealership.
