Just ordered everything proforged.... Upper greasable ball joints (since the camburg ball joints use factory OEM Tacoma ball joints) and inner tie rods with greasable outter tie rods.
GREASE ALL THINGS

 

Especially the frame.

 

I had to paint a bunch of cardboard for the Cub Scout's this week. We are using it to decorate a chuckwagon to look like a dumptruck

 

I think this year i'm going to Mavcoat the frame and see how that stuff holds up compared to the fluid film. I just need to find a place that will pressure wash the fluid film off the truck in the fall.

 

I thought you had the newer version that uses the moogs? I have the older version and it's painted grey, yours as I recall are black

 

Pretty much every review that I've read on the Mavcoat is that it doesn't hold up as well as FF.

Oh god that sucks! At my old job we used to have a customer that wanted a tube cut to tolerances like that so we had to EDM cut it and then have it ground to the final length. We QC'ed 100% with a 50% failure rate and when shipped they still rejected 50%. It sucked!

 

Damn that is rough. This pin is for a fixture, thankfully I got it right on the first go, creep up on your dimensions. I guess he liked the work I did on a boring head bushing

 

So what you're saying is, when the DR350 needs to become a DR440, I should come see you!

 

0.0001" - not too bad. I regularly work with very small parts that have roundness requirements in the millionths...

Yea I know .0001" isn't much for a surface grinding tolerance. The shit is our 2 dry surface grinders have been smacked and crashed many times by the night guys we use to have, and the rotary collet holder has about 0.0008" run out. I've had parts that needs to be jig ground to millionths as well. I think the tightest out of most parts I mill is -0.0000" +0.0003" for a bore size.

 

Also, are you a machinist or an engineer?

 

I is an Engineer... Have a Mechanic & Machinist background.

Not poking or throwing stones because 0.0001" isn't any walk in the park either.

 

I am going to be in such trouble in about a week!

I know. I'm just saying it's a pain on some of the machines here. That bore size runs the same all day long needing minimal adjustment since its on our new Makino a61nx horizontals
