Rust Preventative

Heres a killer product if you care about your undercarrage. We used it on all of the outboards at my last unit. Great preventative $30 bucks but shes worth it.

"Does not dry" Does dirt stick to it since it does not dry ?

 

Not sure where you saw "Does not dry"...The link provided said the following: "Unlike wax coatings, it will not dry out, stiffen or crack under stress". Maybe I'm missing it...

But I'm curious about this product as well. I have a couple places with small spot rust that I'd like to cure. It also looks like the price was reduced since the original post.

 

I emailed the company a few days back regarding using their product(s) on a truck frame that already has some surface rust. They replied:

Thank you for your interest in CorrosionX. It is commonly used as an automotive rust inhibitor. Generally, one coat of CorrosionX Heavy Duty protects a frame for a winter. Re-treatment is necessary each year.

Since you already have some surface rust, I would recommend that you treat the frame with regular CorrosionX (red can) before applying Heavy Duty for the first time. Heavy Duty is as effective as the regular product at stopping rust but, because it's much thicker, it doesn't creep into seams and bolt and screw holes and threads as effectively.

A bit more info from the company in case anyone is interested...

Do you have a rough idea of how many cans of each product (CorrosionX and CorrosionX HD)it would take to coat a mid size truck frame?

One 16 oz. can of regular CorrosionX. It only takes a light coating. If it's dripping or pooling, you're using too much. Two or three cans of HD. It goes on heavier and the cans are 12 oz.
