    Hi,

Is there a way to disable ABS on an SR5? Would like to add a button or something. I saw one thread on it, but it didn't seem to work on SRs. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't have the thread available but there are several written that should work on your '09. I have a '10 Sport and did it on mine with no problems.

To answer the question "why", because the ABS on these trucks (2nd Gen) is way too sensitive depending on what you're doing. Again, do a search and you'll find a metric shit ton of threads about it.

Cool, I'll dig a little deeper then. Just wanted to make sure it's possible.

And to the why question, exactly what' Drianbung said. Also, sometimes it's needed to actually lock your brakes up. And why not? You get to have another cool switch in your truck, so what's not to like haha!

It's definitely a little over sensitive. Brakes are the next project on my truck. Gonna add some Stainless lines, slotted rotors, and ceramic pads. I think that should sort out the feel on the brakes. Disabling ABS would also be nice, if possible.

Ok, guess it's dependent on what you use the truck for. I'm no fan of all the electronic B.S. on new cars/trucks either. I learned to drive on a '78 Thunderbird, and drove that '68 Firebird all through highschool with 4 wheel non-assisted drum brakes and managed to keep it between the ditches. (although, I have upgraded to front power disc)

ABS serves it's purpose, but I'd like to be able to turn it on and off depending on what's going on. If it's just a matter of splicing some wires and adding switch I have no problem doing that. Anyway, I love a good project.

My first car was a '56 Ford, it never heard of ABS and I got along just fine. This past year in the snow and ice the ABS just about got me into some serious trouble.

Looks like this is going to be a really easy project. Splicing one wire and installing a switch.

Straight forward, just a bit stressful cutting the green wire.

Yes. Checkout that thread I referenced above for all the details. The OP in that post did it on an '11 and it worked on my '10.

On the fly everything off should be a stock feature for us offroaders and snow drivers.

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
ABS is good for paved roads. It's terrible for ice, snow, dirt or gravel roads.

If I'm not mistaken, can't you just pull the ABS fuse & call it good? It's a 30 amp I believe.
