One of our superintendents is temporarily driving a backup truck that one of our mechanics usually drives. 2nd gen Tundra (2007) with about 300k miles. He said it has a V6. I said, "No way. Pop the hood."





Didn't know this was an option.

Seems like a small powerplant for such a heavy truck. Oh wait...

Also, if the V6 fits in the Tundra, the V8 might fit in the Tacoma?

 

@duncnasty ill bet you could easily mod a sprinkler handle to work your spare tire on/off

anyone know how to get this double-barbed connector apart?

 

Yes, it's blurry but it's a metri pack connector.

The pins look like this so you to need something to push down on the retainer from the front in the center to pull it out.

 

like a toothpick, right? i did this once before and thrashed the connector then later learned there was an easy way. then i forgot the easy way.

@duncnasty Do you still need a spare tire tool? Pretty sure I have mine with no intention of using it again. Yours if you'd like. I didn't read through the last 6 pages to find out if you already got one.

 

He got an offer for one, but he'd have to sing a song and I can only imagine a otphj for @BudMan...

 

That's the tool. Did the connector have a cap in the rear.
