More lift questions

I have a 2008 Dcab sport 4X4. I dont do any major off roading. Some small hill climb and mudding. I am getting the TSB to the rear as soon as the dealer gets the parts, and have ordered 5100s for the front. I have also ordered 1.5" spacers from rough country for the rear. My questions are;

How will the spacers affect my ride?

Do I need to order new rear shocks? I have stock Billies.

This is more for looks than anything.

spacers for the rear? you mean blocks? dont do it. with the TSB in the back and the billys up front you should be good to go. if you do want tp lift the rear a little more get an AAL, not a block.

OK sold. But Why AAL and how does it affect my ride.

I have OME AAL - ride is nice.

 

OK Planning on going with a 1.5" AAL with the TSB done. Should I expect 2" overall lift? Do I need to change out the rear shocks? Have stock Billies.

 

I got a 3/4" lift with the TSB (on the back). Can't really tell the difference.

 

a block is 100% fine if it is under 2". in fact many full size trucks come with a 1'' block from the facory with a 3/4 taper for drive shaft angle correction. and a front spacer is just fine too, just as long as you arent rock crawling with it.

 

Are longer shocks recommended when doing a aal in the rear? If so which ones? I have toytecs 3 inch spacers in the front should i install different shocks?

1. Rear blocks 1.5" good points bad points?

2. Rear AAL 1.5 " good points bad points?

They both are cheap so cost is no concern.

Yes I understand this will make the truck higher. That is the point of installing them.

1.) Anything under a 2'' block will not cause axle wrap. (which is the only problem with rear blocks) some american full size trucks actually come stock with 1'' blocks. Try to get a block from low range off road with a taper in it to keep your driveline angles correct. Plus a block is cheaper and easier to install than a aal.

2.) Some aal will increase you payload capacity, most give a stiffer ride.

Like you said both cheap. Stay under a 2'' block.

 

Thanks. I have already ordered blocks. I think I will keep them. I will have before and after pictures in the next month or so. waiting on the dealer for the rear TSB and waiting on the 5100s.

 

Blocks can cause axle wrap. I had axle wrap with a 1" block. But i have the non tsb springs wich are kinda soft. It wasnt bad though.

 

Sorry, but what is axle wrap? BTW I had a box of Billies waiting for me at the door, and a letter from the dealership stating my parts were in for the rear TSB. Just waiting on Blocks or AAL if I decide to change.

if you have billy 5100'a your good to go. I had my toytec 3" lift on my truck for about a year or so with factory shocks (non bilstein) better shocks are always a plus but factory ones will still work (for some)
