Maine's process is similar, but it takes a few weeks because they all go through the state police and they get more applications than they have people to handle them.

Speaking of 1911s; I just shot one for the first time over the weekend and it was honestly embarrassing how much better I shot the 1911 compared to my usual glock 19. I can only assume its the grip angle that does it for me

^That made me LOL. Back home, "Old-Timers" are prone to carrying .32 revolvers on their belt. "Snake Guns," as my uncle called them. Walking up on a water moccasin, rattle snake, or cottonmouth is pretty common when out checking fences or doing lumber work. Coincidentally, that uncle shot himself in the foot when trying to un-holster his .32 when confronted with a cottonmouth one day.

Heck yeah, As a kid, I always preferred my dad's 1911 over his Glocks. I've never cared for Glocks.

yeah I thought that pick was a fanny pack short of a snubby or maybe a .25 acp in lieu of the 1911

Block was the first handgun I bought because I was 21 and didn't know any better.

Now I'm trying to sell it to buy a CZ

Grip angle is part of it, probably. I shoot my 1911 and my 5906 better than I shoot my Glock, but it's marginal. Part of it may be recoil-related, too. An all-steel pistol typically does a better job of mitigating recoil than a polymer one.

That's how PA is also. No classes, just fill out a form, it gets run, and you get permit if you pass. Depending on county it can take either 20 minutes or 20 days to get it.

I've carried and shot M1911s since in my 20s and don't have anything in that starter pack. I guess the starter pack in the early '90s was different. We had Oakleys, VHS, Metallica, and 15 inch wheels. :rockband:

Bout to be the same in bama. Bill has passed all but the last signing. Its only $20 a year and all you do is walk in the sheriff's office answer about 20 questions and hand em some money. They take ur pic and hand u ur license

Last weekend I had my G19 and 1911 out. I went back and forth putting mags through each. Insane how much better I do with the 1911. I might sell the glock, I tried to like it but just don't seem to be able to.

yup, and right, and left, and low

I learned to force down because of the grip angle, it's just not a natural for me and I fight it, which sends rounds all over hell.

No need to force the the angle just make sure your arms are straight and even with your shoulders and lean forward a little you will improve a lot on shot placement
