I am sorry if any of you work for the usps this is not directed torwards you.

Today I was working on my truck in the drive way and had it blocked off to the point that I could not pull my bike into the garage after coming home. It was prob around 230 est when I am under it and the mail man comes by my house.

I had left my bike about 3 feet from my mail box. The mail man drives up and looks and my bike then at my box then at me under my truck. Then Drives away! I jump out from under my truck run to my box and grap the netflix movies, because I am ready for band of brother disc 2 and 3 to come already. Here I am chasing him down the street and when he stops at the next box I catch up and say " here is what was in my box and my neighbors have stuff too." He wont even look me in the eye and keep going through his mail and then stops, does not look at me and says the bike was in the way, Then drives off. I was SO pissed after that.

It is 4 feet from were he stopped to my box. I could not believe he would DENY ppl mail because he can not walk 4 feet. I got the number to my local usps and called them to file a complaint about this.

Come to find out I was wrong, hmmmmm The area in front of your mail box is Government Property and within the regulations they do not have to stop. What a lazy old fat man. So from now on do not put any thing within 10 feet of your mail box, so the mail man can Pull in and do it lazy style.

Sorry this was long, but out of my anger all I could do was laugh about the whole thing.

I've seen mail truck drivers go to some ridiculous lengths to not get out of their vehicle...I think we need to go back to them walking down the street with a bag on their shoulder.

If I were you I would get one of those flat rate priority mail boxes...or three. Fill it full of lead weights and arrange for it to be picked up by your mail person....and put it all the way at your door...and draw a bike on all the boxes.

I have also seen mail deliverers get out of their vehicles to get and place mail to the mail box, as well as walk down my driveway to deliver a package and the mail for that day.
You win some. You lose some. And..........some get rained out!

Yes, YOU must provide safe adequate accessibility to your mailbox. If you don't (e.g. obstructions, aggressive animals, etc.), the letter carrier can at his/her discretion not deliver/pickup your mail. It's been like this since the dawn of time. Welcome to life.

    Lots of neighborhoods still do.
