Yup... He got the frame inspected around when I got mine done. March of 2015

 

@Boston10Taco i got the DR out for its first road test after the tune up and the results are good! No popping on decel, pulls strong, will idle on choke, hot and cold starts easily, it ran perfectly! Those Protaper bars really make for a much more comfortable riding position also. The tires seem to hold the road more confidently than my DOT knobbies did also.

 

Ugh.

Where do you stand on the frame recall? Are you still eligible?

 

I don't know, my dad got it inspected before so it should be warranteed but I'm not sure

 

I want to say (but don't quote me on this) that if you got the spray, you're not eligible for a frame swap. Hopefully you didn't get the spray.

I want to say someone was developing a kit to repair that area, but don't quote me on that.

 

I think I need new tie rod ends. Finally jacked it up and tried to figure out my very slight front end noise and it looks like I have a tiny bit of play on the driver's side outer one. Probably just swap everything on both sides and be done with it.

They are the black moog ones. But looking at the design the boot is super pinched when I'm just at standing height... I already have the proforged ordered and on the way. We'll see how they compare.

That's fine - FF goes on a lot thicker than mavcoat which is expected to hold up better long term. But seeing as I hate working on the truck with FF all over the suspension and underbody. I have the entire suspension covered in mavcoat right now and it has a slightly tacky/slippery coating but it isn't as lard like as FF. I'm fine with recasting after 2 months especially since I'm only around for 1-2 months of the winter in general.

 

I lost a pair of work gloves, a pair of shorts and a T-shirt when I did my suspension because of the FF residue.

It beats rusty and broken fasteners, tho.

 

The Mavcoat is supposed to have similar benefits however less greasy. So far driving around it hasn't attracted a ton of dirt but we shall see after the first off road trip.

 

He got it coated... But if I remember right it was either you got the frame replaced, or got it coated. No other option as far as I know.

Could just do a cab mount chop...

 

My trucks an 02 mine was one of the first ones sprayed. I got my frame replaced a few years ago well after the spray.

I believe the spray extended the warranty enhancement for an additional few years but I don't know the dates or anything.

 

Just git hinge from fixing my cousin's lights and installing a bumper/tire carrier combo that had zero instructions. I'll be up again in three hours to ride in it.

It's an easy job. If you have a decent amount of miles on your truck it's probably time anyways. Damn pot holes kill them

 

Gym in a bit, then mowing my lawn for the first time this year. Fun times

 

Yeah, I am pretty close to 120k and our roads here are not the best.

I even have the tool for the inners. Coincidentally, a friend asked to borrow it a few days ago so he has it at the moment.

Only thing I will have left is ball joints, but those feel fine and it looks like they are pressed into the LCA anyway.

 

Might as well do the inners too since you'll already have everything disassembled.

Ya ball joints are pressed in. You've got to take them to a machine shop to replace them. Or hit up Rob @mach1man001 for some low mileage stock replacement LCAs complete with lbjs
