On a related question, what do you think of these guys? https://www.evanscoolant.com/
Innovation? An old idea come back again? Do they have something you think? It's a pricey investment, but some of the arguments are compelling.

availability, the machine was 20+ years old, the only way to get aluminum was to custom make, which was out of the question time and cost wise. i had this rad the next day.
the lift was still drivable and needed to stay that way, it just lost about half the contents of the rad while it was operating.

at that, aluminum isn't necessarily "cheaper" for industrial equipment, its all about availability and popularity

Thank you for that. Maybe we need to start a new thread: "Ask the (@Blkvoodoo) Mechanic"

its one of those things that if you are the only one that will ever work on your vehicle, are able to keep a reserve supply on hand (and in vehicle) it will probably be fine and maybe of value. that said, what is the compatibility of seals in wear parts ? over time ? Whats the down side ? there is always a down side.

its tough enough to keep straight coolant types in the various pieces of equipment i maintain, then add the operator who "works on cars". i've had 2 Zambonis contaminated with DEXCOOL when the cooling system clearly had regular GREEN coolant in them. if not flushed and corrected it'll make mud in the cooling system pretty quickly.

I'm sure there is an ideal market for the Evans coolant, but everyday automotive isn't it unless there is a mass movement to convert, even that would be messy.

    my opinion

NOT one of those, they are a pain in the ass to work on, no room especially if diesel, i've changed many injectors in those and it was tight. Pulling an engine isn't bad once you pull the nose off and the front cooling stack. ( I was a GM Med Duty tech 2002-2005, AKA Warranty bitch, i got to where i hated those trucks ).

    i like this, looks nice

Nae I'm going out of town Friday. I have to weld two tabs for the shock hoop to the frame and the lower shock mount to the axle.

With the amount of work needed to be done, and needing Jason to weld (durring the week he isnt usally off till 4) i would advise waithing for a Saturday to do this job, there is a good 3+ hours of just cutting and grinding to do the shock relocate

    Speaking of welding,
I went to some yard sales this morning, found a old fella with a Miller mig, 120v, tanks, wire, the whole setup for $175.. Almost bought it, but I don't weld, still thinking about getting it and YouTube can teach me
