So the factory battery crapping out at a most inopportune time (on an extended wheeling trip) resulted in me purchasing an expensive battery at an even higher inflated price.

Yes, that's a piece of wood making up the height difference in the batteries. Desperate times call for desperate measures. :D

At least the wood was trimmed to the right size in the safest manner possible.

Note how Leo has turned his face away to keep blood splatter out of his eyes.

Now that I'm back, I figured I'd make this the most expensive battery ever and order a proper mount for it.

I was able to get 5 of the 6 mounting screws in. I didn't even bother drilling the 6th as there was no way I was going to get the nut underneath threaded.

    Much better!

Should probably extend the negative ground to chassis. It was too short to hook back up the way it was.

Got a new HAM radio (see if I can install it today) and the speaker is in the body of the radio which I want to mount hidden away (detachable face) so I needed to get an external speaker.

I think I found a good place to mount it. This picture doesn't really show it well, but when I'm driving it's exactly where the A pillar is so it doesn't block any view.

    It's a speaker.

    It's awesome.

    You're jealous.

You should get one so you can hear comms when you're jamming to Bieber on the trail.

    Are all gone now
    20170520_180742.jpg

Speaker wire and phone charger ran down A pillar.

When I first did that Ram mount for the phone, the adapter put out 5V 1.2amps. That was fine for the phone I had then but can't keep up with my phone now so i swapped out the charger too. I think the new one is 2.5 amps.
