The greatest All-Star race: 1992 The Winston. Davey was already nursing broken ribs from a previous wreck. The race winning lick very nearly did him in. Davey always seemed to be racing on borrowed time. He was a juggernaut who could not be slowed by any injury.

1997 was the year of the infamous T-Rex car. NASCAR told Hendrick to never bring that car to the track again.

What do y'all think about NASCAR's decision to make the Coke 600 the most valuable race of the season points-wise, with the addition of another race Stage? Lots of folks seem up in arms over the impromptu rules change, but I like it. They used to have the Crown Jewels of the Winston Million bonus. Even with modern tech, 600 miles at 190mph is grueling for any driver and machine. If any team reaches the end of each stage in the top 10, they should be rewarded for their efforts.

I've long held the opinion that all 500 mile races should be reduced to 400 miles, save for Darlington, Daytona, and Talladega. Though I have to say, the Darlington 500 is a LONG ASS race to sit and watch. For this reason, I have 0% interest in attending the Coke 600. Heck, I have trouble watching it each year- especially after I've emotionally invested myself in the Monaco Grand Prix and Indy 500 on the same day.

Yeah. Each stage finish tends to eat up +/- 15 laps under caution.

I'm fine with adding a 4th stage, it's a premier race and has history. Nothing to gripe about showcasing one of the top races by getting a few more points.

I don't mind the cautions but damn, that's too many laps between segments

Yeah. Last year's Coke 600 was a snore as well as a blowout. It was also the lowest rated Coke 600 in 20 years. Oh, and how 'bout that, Monster Bev. is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola. You KNOW Coke doesn't eff around. They want a return on investment. Now that they were called out for phantom debris cautions that drove down viewership for a decade, breaking up the race by another segment is the only stopgap measure that NASCAR can afford without totally re-writing the competition rulebook.

After Almirola's crash last weekend, I think drivers are going to be on edge come race day. I can't imagine the intensity level being any higher being ACT III in the incredible racing lineup that is Memorial Weekend Sunday. I think drivers are going to give each other a lot of room until the final 50 laps. Except for Kyle Busch, he'll be running balls deep tiptoeing the apron line with such aggressive camber that he'll either melt a bead or wear out his tires and smack the wall- blaming Goodyear for his woes. We're 1/3 way through the season and Kyle is winless. Truex is the only driver to wheel a Toyota into victory lane.

Who y'all got for tonight, I'm pretty excited. Gonna be a hell of all-star race. The open is gonna be fun to watch, I think Elliott can win it and get up to the front by the end. As far the all star race itself, I'll go with Keselowski. His paint scheme alone is worth a win.

Bowyer, Blaney, and Elliott in the Open, Danica with the fan vote, and Brad or a Kyle for the big money.

He was quick in practice but he's had a standard rookie season. No ups, mostly downs. Lots of learning. If he has room to grow, he'll come on strong next season, but it will take some inner growth (he tends to be self-defeating), and a real whipper-snapper of a crew chief to push his comfort zone.
