I still need to get around to buying my steel. Was supposed to work it in to my day yesterday, but the day went to shit at the very first call. Put me over 1.5 hrs behind and it was only 7:30!

I'm shopping around for a new battery as well. Lemme know what you end up going with.

You do realize that the blue top is a true deep cycle battery and will not perform like you are used to batteries performing?

The steel wasn't too expensive but I just had a 25% but it expired and would have been a lot less. I ordered from onlinemetals 3 5ft pieces and some 3/16 x 4" to use on the bed rail.

I have a fairly new metal supermarket a few blocks from work. So I'll probably pick up from there. Mine won't touch the bed rails, going a bit different with my design...

I wish I could go that route but being that I have the softopper there is no way around that. I may make some supports that bolt to the bed mounts.

I asked @DOUBLLD to take a look at my dakars to see if he could tell me why only 1 of them was squeaking ... took him all of 1.21 seconds to spot this: (bolt installed backwards rubbing on frame).

I'd like to quote Homer Simpson here: "Doh!" Fixing this issue tomorrow. :D

Second time ever on a motorcycle and in ten years.. no stalls, no crashes... I think I did pretty well. Few small jumps, creek crossings, and mud! Good time today!
