    Hey guys,

I'm looking to get LED or HID for my headlights and fog lights but don't know which type to go with. I hear pros and cons for both. I'm looking for a 5500k to 6000k look which is pretty much like an arctic white or pure white.

    your time is greatly appreciated.

I put HIDs in my low beam headlights and cannot believe the difference in lighting! The projectors provide a perfect cut off line for the light so it doesn't blind others. Cannot over recommend! BTW....I originally put 6000k bulbs in and the projector lenses made them kind of yellow. I then installed a set of 8000k bulbs and now get that pure white. I also stepped up to 55w ballasts and bulbs after reading others had done it and experienced no issues. I love the extra light they put out!

BTW....I used a $30 kit off of Ebay. Been using these for years on all my vehicles without a hitch. Just put them in my 2017 Expedition as well.

I chose hid over led lights. Led lights are weak compared to hid. I tried both

Left is an LED "upgrade" and right is 4300k Phillips HIDs. LEDs lack the necessary hot spot to put usable light farther down the road.

I didn't know Morimoto sold HIDs for fog lights. Or, did you use another brand and put them in your OEM fogs? I tried HIDs (35w, H11, 6000k) but they dulled out the reflector in the fog housing. Take a flashlight and look into the fog light lens and you will see how the reflector is burnt and foggy. This cannot be good I would think. This is what made me want to purchase the Morimotos. I don't want issues.

Any heat issues burning the inside reflector? Can you please take a look and let me know? What bulbs did you use?

Ahh. I'm using Phillips 4300k bulbs and have no issues. Take this with a grain of salt though because this is in my 2015 Subaru Legacy (in halogen projectors). For fogs I'm running Morimoto LEDs.

I ordered the Morimotos. Just curious....why didn't you put HIDs in your Tacoma fog lights? The do put out a tremendous amount of light.

Heating issues and because they're in a housing designed for them. HIDs in a stock fog housing will blind oncoming drivers.

I only use morimoto products there really good, never go above 6000K. Anything higher and you start loosing lumens, some of the LED's (2stroke) is decent but HID will be better. A Lexus RX non AFS retrofit will be best. Lol
