    Hello all!

I have 06' TRD Offroad (love it almost as much as my wife and dog), but... I find the brakes a little lacking. my back story is: I was having some financial issues for a bit, so before I got my taco, I was driving a 2001 BMW X5, that my big sister was lending me. I really miss the brakes on that thing, they were smooth yet sharp. Unlike the taco, that kinda glides to a stop.

Well now I'm doing ok financially and was thinking about upgrading the brakes. So they stopped producing the TRD front brakes (PTR09-35050) for my year, but I found a set at a dealership near me for $2300. And I know of pair that is a bit of drive, new, that I might be able to pick up for $1200ish. My questions is, are they actually worth it, I don't street race or any of that, but I have a lead foot. I just want the added safety and added performance offroad; quite a bit of mountain trails and hunting country. Are there better options in the aftermarket or etc.? I remember that with my old 1991, oem was generally best.

I'm hoping to gain some knowledge from people with experience in upgraded front brakes.

    Thank you all!

Also I know is a super long shot, but does anyone have a TRD supercharger PTR29-35090 that they want to sell?!? They stopped making those too :( and the aftermarket ones are too expensive and I don't care for the added noise.

When I did my long travel up front I added in steel braided extended lines and flushed the brake fluid.
    Maybe start with that. :notsure:
They run about $50 or so.
I'd say start with that then maybe get better pads and see how you like it. It's never going to be a BMW though...

Nice PreRunner!!! Makes me wish I could afford 2 tacos :(
Especially well down on that front bumper, you did an awesome job. Thats probably the best looking prerunner bumper I've seen and it looks minimal as s**t. Which 50" curve bar did you go with, I couldn't find the company mentioned in your build?

Sorry all to diverge from the main topic, but thats a slick prerunner build! And yes, I know it will never be the same as a beemer; but it could be, it could be :)
Honestly from the x5 all I miss are the brakes and the stiff as f*** power steering. Other than that: I changed the alternator on that once; seriously F* that, F* that X-infinity^infinity (but saved me about $850), alternators are supposed to be easy. My first car was a 1991 BMW 3.25i manual (i bought it in 2002 for $3000), now that was fun, reliable and pretty easy to work on.

But for all those interesting in brakes too, I did find this thread:

pretty dope if you got 17"+ wheels. I'm thinking this so far, seems way cheaper and probably better actually. Uses other Toyota and Lexus parts; last updated today (5/20).

lol Thanks! Yeah I looked at a bunch of prerunner bumpers before I made that one. I wish I had a tube bender for it, I used miter cuts after I found the angle I liked. It has a bottle opener on it and cup holders too! I went with GGLighting for all my lights. They are about 20mins away from my house, have a life time guarantee and always have deals. https://gglights.com/ follow them on instagram for the deals. You can PM, email or call/text too. He usually gives me a deal. I actually got some sidewinder pods I need to make a mount for.
