Off to moms and check trap. Don't feel like doing much up there today. I'm wore out from yesterday.
2 coons so far. One was hauled off. One I fed to buzzards. I feel there's more.

They are some mess making critters for sure. Buddy back home in VA fought a battle in his attic with them last Summer.

I've about gotten over being mad at myself.
Looking after place was my responsibility.
I never saw hole in backside of chimney. I always checked doors and windows.
    Live and learn.
I did talk her into the benefits of spray foamed attic especially with a clean attic now it can stay clean.
I have outside wall piping to do before foam and electrician needs to do repairs close to soffit first then foam.

Shit ... happen it does. :notsure:
Spray foam sounds like a good plan.

Reminds me ... I gotta pick up some mice traps ... wife saw one scurry across floor in garage night before I deployed her to PHX.

Nice retirement gift! I shot those slugs out of a 870 also, rifled barrel. I knew you were tough SOB but damn... :D I know they use slugs for bear protection and moose in Alaska but decided I didn't need mag slugs to drop a little ole whitetail LOL. And killed dozens of them with 16 ga. slugs. If I was going hunting deer with a slug gun today would drop down to a 20 ga.

Same here, saw one in the garage Friday running across the top of the brick wall. Every time I think I got them all here comes another one. When they cut the fields in the fall it is the worse think they all have my address. Have used the 5 gal. bucket with water and tin can & peanut butter on a wire trap before. Work great but their clawing on the sides of the bucket as they drown drives me crazy. Getting soft in my old age I guess.

I was drinking a lot of Gatorade before my kidney stone (had to be cut up by laser). Haven't touched it since! I don't know if that's what caused it. The Dr. told me to stay hydrated if I don't want to go through that again :fingerscrossed:

We use the shotgun in restricted areas (no rifle zones) to fill cow tags when we draw one.

Yep, I've had success with those "sticky pad" traps. Throw a couple in the corners and under the work bench ... usually gets them. Never tried the bucket trap ... I think the clawing would bother me too. I got no issues taking critters for sport to eat ... but torture ain't sport or entertainment. If that makes me soft, so be it. :fistbump:

Good to see you're still around Rob:D
Fighting a battle with coons myself this year. Relocated two babies to a rescue. Not sure what they're doing with them after they're grown. Just don't bring them back here!:annoyed:

It's been pretty effective out to 60 or 70 yards ... wouldn't try it any farther than that. Always knocks them down, usually followed by a mercy head/kill shot up close.
