Coolers...what kind, size and why???....GO!

Looking for a roto molded cooler to take on wheeling/camping trips. I see a ton of people using YETI, RTIC, ORCA etc.... which one do you guys use, list the good bad and the ugly. What size are you going with? I"m debating between the 45qt and 65qt. Looking to be versatile for overnighters, weekend getaways mostly. Post up pics if you've got em!

with these high end coolers they are so thick you do miss out on interior space, if possible opt for the bigger one.

I just got an Ozark Trail from Walmart. Love it so far. I got the biggest one I could find. I think it's a 65qt for like 199

 

I want an Orion, but will most likely get an Ozark Trail.

 

I went on a witch hunt earlier. Looked and engel, cabelas, RTIC, pelican, Orion, deep blue and a dozen others. They are mainly the same shit. One thing I hated was the videos would show 10 days of ice retention but most the tests were held indoors in an office hallway which was crap. I bought the Ozark trail and did not prechill it and threw it out back and it kept ice and stayed cold for 4 days. Again in the open with no shade in May in TEXAS. Not bad. I just bought a few RTIC coolers because the sale and came out cheaper than the Ozark trail. Had it not been on sale I was going to grab another Ozark trail.
Side not go to field and stream and watch the video from the cooler testing. That shit is pretty funny.

I'm looking for one of these mainly to use as a base for a boat seat in my drift boat. I want one that I can bolt or clamp a fold down seat. I worry that someone will rip me off though. These things are getting hit by thieves pretty regular.

I have a 45 rtic. It's about the size of my camping bins that fit nicely in the bed. I use it for drinks only, so with it being full it is still manageable to carry into and out of the bed by myself.
Only issue I have had was the handle on one side, the knot slipped out of the cooler.

 

I'm thinking about taking the plunge too. I think it's time to go look at a few, rather than just read about them.

Im cheap so we got a 60qt from walmart, has wheels.

 

I am an avid camper, been through a few Coleman. So got a Yeti, then all the copycats came,wished I would have waited. It is a very good cooler, holding up well after 6 season's.

 

For short camping trips like this I have a setup that works for me...

RTIC 20 strictly for food. Don't open it often and it will keep the cooler very cold.

Standard big Coleman or Igloo for beer and drinks. Plenty of ice and it'll last 2 days. It's the most cost effective and keeps the food cold. If you mix food into the beer cooler you won't be too happy by the second day from constantly opening

 

Also the big roto coolers are almost too heavy for one person when loaded.

 

35 qt. Pelican. A little small, but the tie-downs line up nicely with the bed bolt d-rings.

 

Maluna is a newer high end cooler, half the price of Yeti. You may want to peruse those as another option.

 

65 qt rtic that stays in the back of the truck with all my food for camping and I have the soft sided rtic 30 I use for drinks when we camp/beach. They're really great coolers

 

Yeti Tundra 45 hasn't let me down yet. Expensive, but I'd rather have the original than a copy cat.

 

A little random, but has anyone tried the Pure Outdoor coolers by Monoprice yet? I use monoprice for all my audio and video needs. They've had the best quality at unbeatable prices for years. Now it looks like they're kind of randomly getting into outdoor equipment like coolers as well. I'm super tempted to buy one, but there still aren't any reviews yet...
