New Revolutionary Tacoma Diet!!!

I've had my Tacoma for about five weeks now. In those five weeks, I've come to find out I've dropped a few pounds. I couldn't figure out why, since I'm off for the summer and I'm spending my time BBQing, drinking beer and watching the Cubs on TV.
During one of my forays to a grocery store with a large beer selection, the solution to my mystery appeared. I'm parking the new Tacoma in the freakin' outter Siberia-end of the parking lot!!! I'm literally walking 1/4 mile into the store and a 1/4 mile outta the store every time I make a beer run!!! I'm soooo paranoid about some bonehead parking too close to me or leaving his/her cart to roll towards the truck, that I've taken to parking in the next zip code.
If I keep this up, I'll be ripped by the end of summer!

 

Thats funny, I have noticed the same thing. I let my girlfriend drive it and tell her to park as far away from the soccer moms and cart return bins.

DO IT, I am the unfortunate one. I was driving straight down the street last week and someone pulled out of a parking space on the side of the road right into the side of my 1 month old tacoma. It is being repaired right now. Park far away, drive on the side streets, save your tacoma.

 

I always park out in BFE. Still, someone ALWAYS has to be an ass and park in the spot right next to you. And guess what, couple weeks ago someone clipped my rear bumper and don't know who it is now. The extra walk is definitely worth it.

 

yeah, and it always seems to be some pos van or an old junk station wagon for some reason!!! i still cant figure that one out!!

 

ME TOO! I alway's park out there in No Man's Land.... but it really doesnt' matter cause when i come out of the store, it never fails someone will be parked right next to me.. lol go figure!

 

Angle park!!! Never park straight with the lines its an open invitation to the idiots and morons.

Lol then someone will be like "Look at that loser and his stupid pickemup truck i'm gonna park right next to them even though they are crooked.
No way around it just stay away from the cart roundup things and hope for the best.
Lol at 6'1" and 140lbs I don't think I need a "diet".

 

You know those people who park next to you when you park at the end of the SMart parking alot. I always find it fun to page them over the intercom in the store, and ask them "what the hell?"

Damn, I had to get on my soap box again and let it all out!

1. Check wind direction
2. Make sure you park on the top slope and where the shopping carts roll away from you.
3. Walmart is #1 for collecting dings and meeting people who insist on parking their junker next to yours within inches even though there are a thousand empty spaces all around you.
4. Elementary schools are #2 with little brats who dont have the strength to carry their own bookbags but exhibit amazing strength when opening their door and hitting your truck!
5. Christmas time is the worst!
6. The more expensive the car, the better chance of the owner hitting yours when exiting their vehicle. (at least in new jersey) They are totally clueless or their daddy bought the car for them and they could care less.

I have been dinged plenty of times (I have driven a collective average of 35,000 miles/year for the past 9 years). The worst GASH I have gotten was last year in a hospital parking lot. I had a 98 Jetta TDI and this huge woman in her F-350 with a lift parked next to me. I don't intend to be mean, but she had to have been 300+ lbs. I watched her from the waiting room as she opened her door SMACK into my right rear passenger door. Then she got in -the truck. According to the gash mark on my car, the truck dipped 1-1/2" as she got in it. You could see it on my car!

Lesson: beware hospital parking lots too.

 

I just got my first parking lot ding the other day. There is no word in the english language for how pissed i was/am. its right on my rear fender flare. the plastic is gashed and curled up where you can see that the door continued to travel after it hit my truck. I'm so mad i can't stand it, don't know how to fix that one since the actual plastic is scraped up....

 

you could try sanding it down since it is just plastic and then repainting it...

 

Its kinda hard to explain how it looks but i dont think that would work. It's a deep gash witht he plastic pushed up. I already cut off the plastic sticking out but the gash is still there.

 

Oky, I am going to try and take the bite out of this misfortune. I can definitely sympathize with ndcouch and the fact that some careless, thoughtless and highly ignorant person did this without even the slightest concern or regret.
So, lets take this situation and turn it to our advantage if we can. 007 might remember when my truck got hit by a deer, I got a new hood with a scoop on it, color matched grill etc as a result of that accident. In effect, if that deer didnt hit my truck,, it would have remained a plain jane no scoop hood and dark grey grill.
Depending on where that gash is, what I did on an earlier truck (which suffered a similar fate) was to install 4 L.E.D. lights which I connected to the t/s circuit. This covered up (by drilling 4 small holes for the leds) the gash and also gave me a unique look on the truck at night.
Replacing the fender flare is still alot cheaper than body and paint work, so look at it that way also.

There are people who are passionate about their cars and trucks, who still beleive in family values, and respect other peoples properties etc and...............
there are low lifes that have no respect for what you have, are never happy with what they have, and actually, no respect for themselves. You can give them a brand new truck/car and within two weeks, it will be filled with mc d's burgers, smell like a pigs ass and the only car wash it will ever have, will be when it rains. But one fact remains, that car of theirs will never get a ding, even in Walmarts parking lot on a windy christmas shopping day!!!!
GO FIGURE THAT!!

 

You could try sanding it down then filling it with some type of epoxy resin.

Then again it'd probably be a lot easier to just buy a new fender flare from toyota.
