So I've done a few searches on this, but I can't find anything conclusive. Does anyone make a black badge overlay kit for the 2nd gens? There's a few kits for the 3rd gens, but I can't find any for the second gens. I've also seen OEM replacement black badges on eBay for second gens, but they're missing the SR5 badges. I'm thinking about going the plastidip route, I just didn't want to deal with scrapping all the gunk off and having to reapply them straight afterwards.

I may end up doing that. I was just looking for something quick and easier if possible.

I've contacted the co. that produces those black overlay kits www.noxlux.com. Per their representative, they're not planning on producing a kit for the Gen 2 Tacomas. Hence, I went with plasti-dip. Very easy, looks good but not great.

Yeah, I contacted them as well. It seems like there would be enough demand to warrant production, but oh well. Plastidip it is!

You COULD just de-badge it altogether...

Thanks for the pics, that does look nicer than I imagined it would. I may want to consider going down that route instead.

No badges. I love the look and it makes the taco look sleak and clean

At this point the pragmatic thing to do would be (since you're considering the Plasti-dip route) is to attempt it. See how it turns out. If you don't care for it then de-badge away, all you've sunk into it is about $8.

Nice! Yeah, since my truck already doesn't have any of the usual TRD Off-road decals, I think it might look better just de-badged entirely.

That's a really good point, I'll probably just do this and see how it goes.

There are no holes. All the emblems are held on with double-sided tape. Unless it varies between years(?). If you wanna pull em off, get some fishing wire to help cut through the adhesive just in case its really stuck on there. The remainder you can roll off with your hand and the residue cleans up easily with something like goo gone.
