    Why does it bother you?

The auto and multi mode tcase are longer. This put the shifter all the back in the shifter hole. The center of the shifter is just Infront of the floor. I'm not really interested in cutting the floor and dealing with coming up with a boot and all that. So I dropped the tcase 2-3 inches.

Oh I for got you used the 5speed auto, im starting to piece things together on my swap but I will be using the 4speed tranny so I dont have to deal with custom drive shafts and crossmembers, but the 5speed auto is a better choice. Keep it up:thumbsup:

Today I received and installed my new SPC Light Racing UCA. I only took 2 pictures, but if you follow this thread, they install super easy. Before

Looks good! My next project is a suspension refresh. Did you use anything special to compensate for the V8 weight?

Also, did you have to do anything about the engine vin# not matching the truck?

I had toytec coil overs with 600 lb ratings. Last wheeling trip I broke the top and bottom rings off the spring. I now have 650 lb springs.

Neither the 02 Tundra, or 04 4Runner engine ecu have the Vin stored in the ecu. I was concerned about vin with the 04. I found that with a higher end scan tool, you can rewrite the vin in the ecu. There are a few videos on YouTube.

Hmm, good info! Thinking about going wheeling (never done it) with the 4runner I swapped my old 5uz info while I built the Taco V8. It needs some basic TLC first tho...maybe catch up with the group then.

Yesterday I took my truck to the shop and got the alignment. It took some time to dial it in, but it's finally street friendly again.

The A750 transmission is awesome. I should have gone this direction in the beginning. Only thing I wish I had done differently is go with an 05+ v8 (vvt-i).

Anyway, next on the list is adding a few rounds of adjustment up on the right coilover. It's kinda soft.

After that, I have a digital Dakota fan controller I am going to install, along with a scangauge II so I can hopefully keep a close eye on coolant and transmission temps.

Pics for those that can't read.

This morning I was running around town and I started to notice a strong smell of transmission fluid. I stopped and looked and I saw what appeared to be fluid leaking from the bell housing onto the steering rack. Not much I could do in the parking lot, so I came home. Once home I let the engine idle and go under the truck and saw a steady leak coming from the bell housing. Probably 5-6 drops a second, almost a stream. The transmission cooler lines are dry, and the engine oil pan. Is also dry, so I am 98% sure it's coming from inside the bellhousing.

Once the truck cools down, I will get under it again and pull the inspection cover and confirm.

I am not looking forward to having to pull this transmission out... But the silver lining is I do have a backup A750 from when. I was in my tail housing hunt earlier this year.... Hopefully all I need is a seal, but who knows.....

    More to come...

Side note. I ended up going down to LKQ with a friend. I walked out with an I-force v8 badge and a key amp from a 98 Lexus LS400.

The key amp is special because with about 30 minutes work of work, I will have a fully functional engine Immobiliser.

So, it's kind of complex if you don't know what an Immobiliser is. Basically, it's a computer that reads a small chip the size of a grain of rice that is implanted into Toyota "Dot keys". Apparently each little chip is different like a finger print. This chip and up to 4 or 5 others (I think) can be programmed to the Immobiliser ECU.

When. A key that is cut for your ignition, and programmed to your Immobiliser ecu is inserted into the ignition switch and turned, the engine will run normal. However, if you only have a key that is cut for your ignition, but has not, or can not be programmed to your Immobiliser, the engine will spin, but not start.

What most folks do is find an Immobiliser and key that have already been programmed together. They them zip tie the key to the key amp (which is basically a coil of small wire mounted by the key ring light that detects the key and transmits the chip information to the Immobiliser) under the dash someplace. Which works. However, I wanted to go one step farther and find a key amp that would fit my ignition switch. I tried the v8 4runner key amp, but the ignition switch is shaped different and the key amp won't fit into place.

I found out that some fancy smancy 3rd gen 4runners have an Immobiliser system, but the key amp also does fit my ignition.

After talking with a Friend, he came up with this idea. He provided the information, and I tracked down the parts.

Photobucket is being stubborn, so I can't upload pictures. Once I get it working, I'll update with photos.

These are the past I started with.
Left to right: Lexus key amp ring. Modified 4th gen Key amp, stock 4th gen key amp, stock taco/4runner key ring light.

Man, that's super thoughtful. One day I will have a shop, and a lift. So far, the nicest thing I had was a concrete pad to work on. I've since moved and basically I've worked on my truck it's whole v8 life either on gravel, or up on a trailer.

Currently, it's on my trailer. The Tcase is off, and all but the bellhousing bolts and trans cross member have been removed. . Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon I will at least know what the deal is.
