If the cover comes off it should be real easy for you to disconnect the speaker if you'd like.

The manufacturer explained why the beeps are there, and at no point did he even suggest that he'd cater to someone's request of removing it. You ordered a product as it was advertised - beeps and all. Endlessly posting "can you do something one-off for me" does not obligate the manufacturer to doing anything special for you.

The beeps are so low that I can't even hear them. I had to ask a passenger to "listen" for a beep. If you are specifically trying to hear it, it's there. But seriously it's not even an issue. You probably won't even notice it.

What a great company to offer this free update! I'm waiting t see if I get one. I think the OP told me I was order 1013.

Damm, I just checked my email and sure enough, I'm being offered the new chip. Thank you! The people at DZ Custom Innovations are definitely concerned about their customers.

What about those that are still waiting for theirs to ship. Do we have to make a choice without being able to test the original programming first or will they ship with both chips?

For those checking timelines. I ordered on May 14th and just received shipping confirmation. Order #: 1101

The last page of posts indicated a new firmware/chip is available based on user feedback. My outstanding question to @dcz108 becomes rather important for customers. See below for the inquiries made to OP.

Also, at what order # did this change get implemented?

That chip is nice. If you don't like the new reprogramming, you can go back to the original chip.

Not like flash software, where you overwrite the original programming.

Is there any reason to assume that this could be bad for the truck in the long run? Toyota designed the engine to run and shift a certain way. This changes that. Not that anyone could really know, but I just wonder the impact 10-15 years from now which is what I easily expect a taco to last.

I wonder if going from 4th to 5th around 52mph will also bring down 5th to 6th at a lower speed?

I feel the current shift pattern is bad for the truck. Hard down shifting, slipping, shifting too soon, etc.

I had to turn off the radio and try to listen just to hear the beep. I thought I did not have the switch turned on the first time I switched it into S as I could not hear the beep. If folks think that's going to be an issue, you will not have an issue.

So, if we got the old chip... do we get an option (like the question on updates) for the new shift pattern if that turns out to be better? I'm not sure it would be, but if testing finds it is, what happens to those of us who jumped on the bandwagon early?

Not sure I fully understand your question, but according to the email, the early adopters would get a replacement chip with the new shift pattern, that is user replaceable.

I have to say that I do think that the 4th to 5th shift needs some work. I was barely on the gas (as in if I let up on the peddle, I would have been coasting) and it was well over 60 before it would shift into 5th while I was on the interstate. I am pretty sure I was up to operating temperature and all, so that should not have been a concern. I'm wondering if my Verizon Hum has something to do w/ that so I am thinking I may try to remove it tonight and trial tomorrow on the way in to work.

Also, normally, my MPG (when it flashes on the dash to show you what your "per trip" stats were) is around 23.5ish and this morning it was down to 22.5. I normally average around 22 overall w/ the short trips around town bringing it down, so I am probably going to have to say that you will see a slight reduction in your mileage if you drive on the interstate quite a bit.
