What kinda of TRUCK scrapes on speed bumps

This horse poopoo , is it just my truck or does anyone else’s scrape going over some speed bumps. I would understand if it were the Xrunner model but I have 10' 4x4 DC SR5. If I have 4 passengers it is really bad, hitting every bump.

I looked underneath and it looks like its the exhaust pipe that is hitting. I have not measured it but does anyone know if Toyota specs a stock clearance?

wow!! how big are those speed bumps?? I thought only lowered trucks would scrape

Swift boot to the mudflap. Still a better truck than most are driving.

 

Mine use to scrap the flaps too. Just put a 3" lift on and problem solved

Cool idea but not my cup of tea.

 

I just have the base-model access cab (people have actually asked me if I've lowered it , to which I am quick to reply that I would never desecrate a truck like that).... But I've never scrapped the bottom on a speed bump.

 

Just went out and checked it. It has scrapes on the exhaust pipe. The ground clearance there is about 9.5". I checked on the Toyota website and there is a spec of 9.3 inches "Off-highway - Minimum running ground clearance". What does that mean???

No argument to it being a great truck I just think its a bummer if I have to deal with that. Maybe its the suspension because I didn't get the TRD package. When I have 3 passangers it drops a couple of inches.

 

I have a stock 4x4 access cab. Never scraped anything on speed bumps. Not even the mud flaps, that I'm aware of. The mud flaps do get caught up if you park in icy snow. I've had a couple pop rivets pop out when backing over icy snow. Seems like a poor design.

 

But still... 7 inch speed bumps. Damn son.

 

I'd like pictures of the speed bumps we're talking about. I'm not calling the OP a liar, but anything that's high enough to scrape the exhaust pipe is high enough to destroy the mud flaps all together. Something doesn't add up.

 

Unless you've got some 9.5" speed bumps, I don't see how this is possible. Next time you think it's happening, have one of those passengers step out and watch to see what's scraping. I'm with the rest that it's the flaps.

 

It's the flaps. You hit your exhaust on something else, thus causing the scrapes.

 

Seriously, the scrapes are because you backed into something. it would be a harsh ringing grind if it was the end of the pipe. The only way you are hitting the pipe is in reverse.

 

I dont see how a speed bump would scrape anything on your truck
