CB/Two-Way Radios: Compatible?

So I'm prepping to run the Mojave Road in two weeks and the guys I'm traveling with said a CB is a must have. I went to Radio Shack and they don't sell CBs anymore. Okay, besides getting over this little fact, the Shack guy tells me that their two-way handheld radios get all 40 of the same channels that a CB gets and are, therefore, compatible. Anybody know if such a thing is true, that the cheesy little two-way radios operate on the same bands as a CB?

 

They shouldnt. As far as I know, Race Radios have channels like 153.76 not 1, 2, 3. PM Bajamoon for more info, he just bought one

CB radios / FRS radios (sold at radio shack) and Race radios all use different frequencies.

They may have 40 channels or so, but cannot communicate with each other. Get a CB radio.

 

You can get hand held CBs. But CBs do not operate on the same frequency as two way radios. I Have a Nice CB, but I don't use it cuz there is not much room in my cab to mount it. I use the two way radios. I have a couple extras, that I hand to friends (cuz they never have any) and then we can stay in touch whether we are in the vehicle or out hiking around.

If you have space issues, try the Midland 75-822. Mine seems to work pretty good, and I don't have a separate antenna yet.
