It's about a 4 hour trip so not too bad. We'll stop somewhere along the way to get the boys out, get some food and let the dog out. It's frustrating traveling with a family but I'm getting used to it. I used to do power drives, through the night, 9-10 hours making a single stop for gas, coffee and the bathroom. I could plan them so they'd all happen in one stop. At least now, I just accept that traveling is going to take a bit longer and I just plan for it.

I also prefer driving at night. Less traffic, easier on your eyes than the sun, usually cooler and it's generally only trucks on the road.

 

Yea I can understand that. My stop are only for gas and food if needed or caffeine.

I tried driving back from SC one time and it was nice to see everything in day light but by the time I hit NYC I was ready to sleep, it was not a good last 3 hours

 

Can't wait to get into cape cod traffic friday. Hopefully work gives us an early release!

 

Anyone do a v8 swap before

 

There have been a couple posted on here. I don't recall seeing a lot of detail on them but they were pretty cool!

I like it cuz itlooks like it works with a Bestop plus it extends over your roof

 

I have the softtopper on it now, Yes I think it would work with the bestop. In fact I had the Bestop until the day before I put on the rack. I wish I kept it to try.

 

Not sure how 7-8 grand if you're getting nice stuff equals a new truck? With a done up suspension and all the off-roading extras

 

That's one of those things that seem be reasonable but then when you actually get into it all the little costs cause the budget to balloon. Plus if you don't have the tools to do fab work, wiring etc... That all adds up quick

 

So far I've got about $600 into the planned v8 swap for my plow truck. The engine was $100, and then there was around $500 in ancillaries, lol.

 

Yeah I'm gonna do all the work myself when I do it.

 

Plus you can't buy a v8 taco

 

Right now I have everything I'll need (I think) to do the swap. I just need to work up the ambition to blow a weekend pulling the old motor out and swapping the new one in. So I'm waiting for a weekend with a forecast of pouring rain, lol.
