Would any of you be interested if I could make DIY (IKEA Style) drawers or raised floors for tacoma beds? Basically I could make the parts on the cheap and ship them out in a flat box. Instructions included like putting together IKEA furniture just less irritating. I'm gonna make some for my 4runner but Tacoma's would be easier. Just curious what you guys think?

Cutting board material basically. Water proof and the same thickness as plywood

Its a plastic, i think its easier to work with then plywood at times. And i ditched the plywood drawers i had because i could not stay together after 3 years of use

Yeah I've been trying to think how to weather proof them well. I think ABS might be a good option. Wood is great for people with shells though

Been kicking ass on a few projects. Trying to get most stuff done for a trip starting on Thursday so I can make sure everything works before I roll out for good!

Wanted an easy/insulated/quick sleeping location for bad weather and tent/hammock wont work. The "normal" RTTs aren't my thing and I wanted to avoid cramming myself into the 5ft bed.

Flat platform, enough room to fully stretch out. Most of my tools should fit under the front two panels. All are secured to the stock seat locations. Memory foam mattress is on its way to make it comfy AF.

    0520172233.jpg

And, finally mounted the propane tank, got the water heater and pump mounted up and its all working awesome. I've got connections through the topper panel. One for the water in, other for the hot water out for the shower. I have an adjustable shower head mount coming that I'll connect the shower head to (that has an on/off button to conserve water).

I'm still debating on putting in a valve for the vacuum side to be able to switch from the hose that goes to the panel (and into a bucket of whatever water I am using), or use the 12 gallon on board tank.

    0520171656.jpg

Hoping to find a 90 elbow for the Camp Partner stove (hiding under the craftsman box). The gas inlet is in the worst location for my setup and a 90 degree elbow would help immensely. But it seems like a strange fitting so I sent them an email, waiting to hear back. I'll throw a splitter on the propane and have both hooked up. Eventually when I get a chance I'll do a walk around of all the projects on the truck.

Water heater seems great. In testing so far, I have the temperature set 1/8 up from the lowest setting, and the water flow the same (1/8 from lowest) and there is plenty of flow for a shower and it'll take 49 degree water to 100 without an issue.

    Water Heater
    Water Pump

So far the pump is great as well. It is pretty dang quiet for what it is.

I have had this pump and still do on my potable water setup and its much louder. It is about half the overall size and works well, but it does make a bit of noise. I'm thinking about getting another one of the larger ones.

A heat shield wasn't overly needed, but I figured why not. And then I saw the license plates when cleaning out the toolbox and figured it was much easier than cutting up some metal.

Ah, looks great. I am using an Eccotemp in an offroad teardrop as well and love it. I decided to carry 2 different hoses/regulators for it and my stove, found it was just easier. Due to the location of my 10 gallon tank it's easier for me to hook the heater up to a propane canister and call it good and I found the propane use is far more efficient than I expected.

If they were made from some sort of weather resistant materials for the guys that don't have caps on the bed that would be nice.

My dad and I are looking into how to do that. I know we have wood, abs, and carbon fiber. I'm figuring out how to keep cost way down and weatherproof.

I imagine if the parts are ABS/ stainless steel or aluminum you have a good weather proof design and users can caulk the shit out of the main boxes on Assembly.

That's how mine was designed. No fasteners, the four support boards lock together via slots. The drawer isn't collapsible though. The top parts are just cut and carpeted so they fit snug in place.
I'm limited in storage space, which is why I designed it that way.

    IMG_6759.jpg IMG_6760.jpg

It would be awesome to have it all made from ABS. How thick would the support boards have to be to achieve the same strength of the 3/4" plywood? I'm also interested in what you can do.
