I've decided not to retire completely ... less hours eventually ... but I want to collect as many different retirement checks as I can. :D

I had a state job it was the best job I ever had. Pay wasn't the best but the work atmosphere was great and a wonderful boss

For me I'll just attempt to adjust accordingly. If I can't run then I'll walk. If I can't walk then I'll sit on my ass and fish. I miss fishing.

    Well not the same here.
    Benefits good.
    Gotta watch your back.
Perdiem is now reimbursed instead of paid up front.

My MIL is 76 (I think, maybe 75) and still working. She tells me the secret is just keep working/doing. Slower maybe, less hours and more vacations to visit kids/grandkids/great grandkids ... but just don't stop/retire completely. I'm going with it ... I've watched two old guys I was super fond of, and close to, die within 6 months of retiring. I think that's my main reason for deciding to just keep going/earning/working/playing. Watching those two go really rattled me. :notsure:

One nice thing is that there are states that don't tax (or tax at a reduced rate) Federal, State or railroad pensions.

My cousin and I used rent a house in Cape Hatteras/Avon for a week, load up the families and as many toys as we could fit in our 1st gen Tacomas and have at it. We'd drive out onto the beach, drop the tailgate, break out the surf rods and beer - then pull in what ever happened to be biting. Damn I miss that.
