I have not installed yet, but looking at how to attach it, I was going to use the 4 holes for the existing rail, and add additional holes then add rivet nuts and some steel plates behind the composite similar to the stock setup. The setup would require me to elongate the holes in the stock rail a little, but a thin washer will regain the strength. I will add 4 more fasteners on the top so 8 all together and ~ another 8 to 16 fasteners on the bottom should allow a good bit of load to be applied without weakening the side of the bed.

looking at a rivet/nut similar to http://www.assemblymag.com/articles/92337-assembly-with-rivet-nuts

for less then $100 you can get some strong rails that are out of the way and add flexibility to tie down cargo or as shown in my picture in the original post, you can make a strong platform.

Plasti dipped. This stuff is awesome to be honest! Holding strong and have gone through several car washes. Two Thumbs up!

Did a few things today. Removed the chrome V6 badges and added a matte black TRD badge, installed the oem exhaust tip and installed a TRD grill badge (which blends right in since the grill is now black).

Used Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating on the grille. I couldn't believe that we can take these grilles off in less than 30 seconds, hilarious.
Anyway, took the grill off and then the chrome outer ring and the chrome grill itself and separated the two. Used a sanding sponge to rough it up then a much more aggressive sanding sponge that scratched it up pretty good. Then I rubbed the whole thing down with rubbing alcohol before spraying.
Really light first coat and then followed it up with another coat every 5 minutes until the can was gone.
Was pretty soft for the first couple days and can soften a little bit in high heat but it has hardened now and I can't gouge it with my fingernail anymore.

The last pick is the front shot with the hood up and the Redline Tuning QuickLIFT Plus hood struts, those things are great and install was easy.

I got them for $3.08 on eBay. They arrived about a week and a half later. They were super easy to install. Just puncture a hole and then make it wide enough to stretch the rubber around the holders. The hole does not have to look pretty as it will be hidden. Start the hole small and then make it bigger as needed. We'll see how they hold up. I can see them breaking if someone steps on them with their full weight, but I think they would be hard to step on where they're located.

Thank you! Both badges were bought from eBay, the grill badge was surprisingly metal and not plastic, the tailgate badge is plastic but great quality.

Yeah but there is also a couple spots that are pulled out look ribbed kinda like they used a screwdriver.
