Putting HID's in your stock headlights is illegal in most states, if not all of them. So that's not a good idea at all.

HIDs aren't illegal in proper projector headlights like the 3rd gen Tacomas have. Reflector housing like the 2nd gens are a different story and likely are illegal and a little bit of a dick move since it scatters the light and blinds oncoming drivers

EDIT: I may have been mistaken regarding halogen projectors versus HID projectors. I did use proper in my post  I assumed the Tacoma projectors which originally have halogens were a decent cutoff with HIDs and wouldn't be ticketable but I may be wrong.

Edit: and I agree 100% it's a dick move to put HID's into the non-projector headlights. It's a big issue here and cops are cracking down on it finally.

Here in AZ, it is illegal to put HID's into stock halogen housings. The halogen projectors scatter light differently then HID projectors ad they are not built the same. My wife's 07 4 Runner has projectors (Halogen) and there is plenty of scatter when we tried HID's. It's not as bad as second gen headlights but it still does scatter and doesn't produce a cut off line like an HID projector would. Putting in a nice set of PIAA's did a better job than HID did with the stock projectors on her 4 Runner. Cheaper too.

I ended up doing a retrofit and that's the only legal way, at least in Az, to have HID's in your headlights. I love the light output but man it wasn't cheap to build them.

OP, another option is to fix the holes at a legit body shop and get yourself a roof rack you can attach this light bar to. Stop drilling your cab. You are killing your resale value.

I would take it a step further, paint the entire door well with satin black, then do the same paint on all the doors and call the whole look 'custom'.

No aftermarket kits are technically road legal and if a cop wants to be a dick about it he/she can give you a ticket. Also our projectors are made for halogen bulbs and not HIDs. There's a huge difference in projectors.

This. Take it to a body shop and have them install it professionally.

Sick for you man but nothing that cannot be fixed. With time. And money. And a professional :)

Why do people think light bars even look good on top of your roof is beyond me. Especially on such a new truck. And headlights are obsolete? WTF does that even mean? I'm sorry, but I think a lot of people will celebrate this failure while others will cringe at the thought of such terrible looking holes in your new truck. Good luck
