Be thankful for no serious injuries...hard to believe the two of you walked away from that.
Back in 2008 my wife and I rolled our SUV on the interstate, black ice. Totaled it but we walked away. I was actually giddy afterwards. I think it was because we could have been killed, but there we were, standing by the side of the highway, with our Boston Terrier. Nothing but a rug burn and paper cut.
Enjoy shopping for your new truck...

WOW! That was a hellova ride. Glad you and your girlfriend are all right. Here's a few thoughts. The drunks insurance should be paying for your truck, if he has insurance. If he had no insurance, it goes on your uninsured motorist property damage, if you have it. If neither of these apply then your collision coverage covers your truck. I hope that the truck is sitting in a tow company lot racking up storage. If so, the insurance company will usually hustle on things to keep storage from going out of sight. If they want to move it to keep from racking up storage, tell them, NO, not until we settle. They may try to bully you into paying the additional storage. Tell them NO to that too. If it's sitting in your driveway, they will take their dear sweet time, because it's not costing them anything for it to sit there. If the drunk has insurance, demand that they put you in a rental vehicle. They probably won't put you in a truck, but they should put you in something. If the drunk has no insurance, then your insurance will put you in a rental, IF you have rental car coverage on your policy. Whatever you do, do NOT sign off on the medical part until you are SURE that you don't have any long lasting injuries or disabilities. The insurance company may try to get you to settle the medical part quickly. Don't do it. If you settle on the truck, make sure you are only signing off on the property damage, and not the medical. In some cases your own insurance will cover everything and then go after the other guys insurance. Hopefully that doesn't happen, because you will have a deductible on your insurance which will come out of the settlement, whereas his insurance should pay the whole 9 yards. as far as your add on aftermarket stuff, they will probably only give you .25 on the dollar. That's just the downside of dumping money into add on goodies. Fight like hell and they might give you .35 on the dollar. Good luck man. Glad you and your girlfriend are still walking around.

Holy moly! Don't rush to settlement, make sure your health is 100%. Insurance companies want to close things out ASAP to limit their liability.

Weird, exactly how I felt.. Except I was a little PO at the other driver for obvious reasons... Lol
Lol, not surprised at all the part out questions but literally there is nothing straight on this thing.

Thanks for all the help with insurance guys. Luckily he has insurance and it is a really good company, USAA. More helpful than my own insurance.

WOW! Glad you both walked away, but don't walk away from the insurance. I fought like hell with mine after my truck was stolen.

I think that it was already parted out on the freeway.

I see a bed cubby door that I can use. LOL Seriously though, after you and the insurance company agree on a settlement price for the truck, you have the option to "buy it back". If you ask, they will give you a dollar figure that they will let you have it for. It may be $500. It may be $2500. Whatever the number, if it's worth that to you, they will just deduct that number from your settlement. If you go that route, make sure it's very clear who is paying the tow and storage bill.

Also glad you all came out relatively unharmed. That's an insane amount of damage.
