I just went to the dealer to order the part the OP had recommended - it appeared to be the same valve (one way) that was on my Tacoma from the dealer. I didn't blow in it as it was still packaged and didn't want to buy it, but it looked identical. So I got a filtered breather from O'Rielly's.

I've tried 3 different m10x1 fittings that don't work. Yet the factory goes back in every time I fail.
    :annoyed:

A $10 mod has tripled in price.

Yes, m10x1 is the thread of the factory part.

@06Offroad Thanks for posting this (and the subsequent seal information). Great information that has alluded all of my search attempts up until now. Did you ever end up extending these breathers, and any pics?

Anyone else extend the Transmission and Transfer Case breathers while the transmission was still installed? Cannot find a how-to that's applicable to 2nd Gens for the life of me. Everything is either 1st Gens, FJs (which seem to be a different story), etc...

Also, can any one (@David K ?) confirm what the deal is with the e-locker (separate from the rear diff) breather? Saw a post somewhere that showed it's a bare 1/8" nipple just sticking out of the axle or crossmember or something weird like that (wha??). But I've also seen a few posts that show a ~1/8" hose coming out of the e-locker and bundled with the wiring harness that goes somewhere. I think one post mentioned that hose routes up and vents up near the fuel cap, but would love some pics of the far end of the hose or at least a confirmation on whether it needs to be raised/extended further. My goal is to make sure no breather is any lower than the front diff / ADD breathers up by the battery.

It (locker barb/ tube) is a breather that already is ported up high. Some have extended it further. The diff breather needs to be changed from the factory installed exhaust only vent on the diff to a true breather, up high. The e-locker has not had a bunch of reported fails after high water crossing, so my guess it is vented high enough.

Just curious where everyone is going to get their parts for this? Ran by the local Toyota dealership and was quoted $18 for the two parts mentioned on page 1, then checked out toyotapartsdeal.com and the parts came out to $7.31 with 9.54 in shipping. If anyone knows anywhere to check let me know, I am in the San Angela, Texas. Thank you all for the help.

When doing water crossings where your rear differential is submerged in water. It will stop the factory breather from pulling in water instead of air inside your diff.

Awesome. I called today and talked with a nice guy who searched and couldn't find my order at all. I made a new order and received both emails from them and PayPal. Also my hose should be here Friday so if it's too humid go paint my sliders then it will be Breather mod day
